The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.

SOURCE: Acer aspire laptop won't charge

Hi,
First of all you have to determine whether it's the battery, charger or the laptop itself.
Remove the battery and boot the laptop on AC power only, if the laptop boots up you can rule out the charger and the laptop, you may need a new battery if that is the case.

SOURCE: My Acer aspire 4935 is

Problem description:The battery charges only when the laptop turned off. The battery charge LED lights up as normal and the battery gets charged to 100% while the laptop is off.
When the laptop is turned on, the battery charge LED goes off even if the adapter is still plugged in.
Possible cause:1. AC power adapter failure.
2. Battery failure.
3. Broken/loose power jack.
4. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:1. This problem could be related to a faulty AC power adapter. It's possible that the AC adapter doesn't provide enough power when plugged into the laptop. To find out if this is your problem, you'll have to test the laptop with another working adapter.Replace the adapter if needed.
http://www.chargerbuy.com/replacement-acer-aspire-9400-ac-adapter-19v-3-42a.html

2. There is a slight chance that you have bad battery. Test the laptop with a know good battery and replace the faulty one if needed.

3. The battery charge problem could be related to the power jack. Maybe the jack is broken or not making good contact with the motherboard. It is necessary to remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. Resolder or replace the jack if needed.

4. If the power jack is in a good working shape and new power adapter with battery do not fix the problem, most likely you have a faulty motherboard. Replace the motherboard if needed.

Wont start up

Remove the battery and AC Adapter cord, and press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then, without replacing the battery try plugging in your AC Adapter to see if you get any love. If that doesn't work, remove the AC adapter, reset the board again, and this time hold the power button down as you plug in the AC Adapter cord. If you still don't get any lights, you could try removing your memory, reset the board, replace the memory, plug in the AC Adapter, and try one more time.

I have an Acer Aspire 5570, when i turn it on the yellow led turned on but there is no display. can you help me?

This could be an LCD problem if your computer is turning on. You can actually feel the computer is running once you pressedf the power button. If this is the case, then try this troubleshooting steps.

Take out the battery
Unplugged the power adapter
Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
Put the battery back in
Plugged in the power adapter
Turn ON the computer

If same thing will happen. You need to call your manufacturers tech support for possible repair of LCD.

Mouse pad been working fine, but now not working on acer aspire 5732Z i had for christmas. can i fix or will i have to return to shop?

hello, i have a suggestion for this kind of problem. Try to do a power drain. First you have to power off the computer, remove the battery and ac adapter and anything that is plugged on to your computer. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Put the battery back and the ac adapter, try to power it on and test it. If still doesnt work try to uninstall and re install the driver for your mousepad. Hope this helps! goodluck!!!

It just wont turn on i have checked the power lead and its ok its an acer aspire 5050 laptop

Hi. I would suggest you double check the ac adapter if the powercord is properly attach to it ot also you might want to try powerdraining or powercycling your computer. To do this you must turn off your laptop then remove the battery and unplug the ac adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds while the battery and ac adapter is out, after that place back the battery and plugin the ac adapter and try turning on your laptop, if this doesnt work then try power draining it again and just use the ac adapter or just plug it in without the battery then try again turning it on. If it still has the power issue then try a known good ac adapter so that you could double check that it is not an ac adapter issue or a battery issue. If all that trouble shooting step doesnt work then you could also try calling acer tech support to help you on your issue if your machine or laptop is still under warranty they would help you fix it by sending that laptop to there depot without any charge. Hope this Helps

Battery not charging

two possibilities:
1. AC adapter is not working well. 2. laptop DC power jack loose or broken
most likely 2, quite common for laptop, Acer
try if you can power on your laptop only with the AC adapter without the battery;
also keep monitor the indicators on your front panel, see if the AC input is on.

Acer 5570 - Power switch is not working

Hi,
Try removing the power supply (from the wall) and the battery pack. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Plug the mains power (from the wall) back in and then press the power button. It should work. Then you can replace your battery pack. Don't know why it works but it has worked for me in the past. Good luck!
