Hi, First check that you have good power coming in from plug.
If that is good check out power board (capacitors Bad) replace if oozing out or bulging out. If you are good with soldering then do so.
Replace with same capacitors or better ones.

SOURCE: Toshiba 37HLX95 wont power on, just click sound

I have the same problem. It happened once before about 4 years ago just after I bought it. I put a DVD in without the power on. I was able to take it out and it worked fine. This time my daughter put the DVD in, I took it out but still no picture or sound.

Have you had any luck?

Yes if there is no clicking, then the power supply is usually faulty. However its difficult to tell if it has affected any other boards(like the main board) with out testing it. I would suggest that you take the assistance of a tech, have him test it to determine if its just power. If yes then you can get a new power board and replace it. Otherwise it may be wiser just to get a new tv. You can get a 26 inch tv for around 350-400$ now.

SOURCE: my toshiba 50hpx95 plasma tv makes just a clicking

A common problem with modern power supplies is dryed out capacitors in the power supply, This pulls down the voltage and shuts down the tv. The can usually be spotted if you know what to look for (they swell up and deform a little). It is not a job for the novice. But capacitors are cheap.

Dead set toshiba mod no 52xv540u

hi if the set is totally dead first thing to check is the fuse, usually glass type. or solder in fuse called a wickman if these are ok the next to check is diodes, transistor, resistors, but you would need a mulitmeter and a service manual of the tv to help you find part values hope it helps

Toshiba television wont power up

First would be if total dead--open and look for a bad fuse.

general information:

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:

ISSUES:

1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.
2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.
3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.
4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.

Answers to issues:

1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.

2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.

Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.

What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.

3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.

4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.

My Toshiba 52XV540U won't turn on even I tried many method described in manual. I also checked two fuses inside, they look good. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Do you have any tv repair exp? If not take it to a shop! If you do, then check for swollen caps. There are 5 fuses in that set,2 glass ones and 3 light blue solid that says 5 amp. I have a same mod. tv as you that I can't fix. It's probably the main power board as is mine. The board but most likely has to be changed. I am checking on a price and don't know yet. I have 35 yrs. exp. in repairing tvs. I can fix most of the lcds that i get. Sometimes I have a hard problem. If you don't have any tv repair exp.then you need to take it to a shop.Either they can fix the board or find another one, perhaps a used one, which will be a whole lot cheaper. The tv is still worth putting a few hundred in it, unless you can afford a new one. Maybe a bit smaller since they are coming down quite a bit. I will let you know what happens with mine!
