Hello Just recently got a Toshiba R100 equipped with Centrino 1.1Ghz with 1/2Gb and got Xp and Fedora Core running 2.6.10. Suddenly the machine has become very very slow. Both in Linux and XP. I checked the BIOS settings but even by setting the CPU always at full speed there is no difference. The machine is essentially not usable - takes about 10mins to boot up XP for example. Any hints? Many thanks. Alex I have the same problem. And, I found that my R100 is too hot. I guess the heat trasfer got problem. There is a glue between the chip and the iron which gets the heat out, the glue will be dry after several years, and it need to be changed. My problem is I don't know how to open it. Does anyone know how to open it? I have turn all the screw at the bottom, but still can't open the cover.
I have a Toshiba Tecra M5 (s4332) and suddenly it too is very very slow. Takes about 6 minutes for fully boot up. It is very clean, defraged, no viruses, minimal software installed. Worked well, but now...it is painfully slow to do just about anything. Any suggestions?
I'd suggest sending it back to where you bought it, this sounds a lot like a factory problem and it should be covered under warranty.
