Suem...Check your lid switch. With the lid closed, push on the atuator with a small screw driver...see if it starts agitating. Revised switch kit part number is 12001908. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Maytag MAV7600 - loud noise on spin cycle

It's more likely something caught in the pump or bad pump. Remove the belt under the machine and check the pump pulley for noise.

go to www.maytag.com and put in the washer you have, including the model number & you can download one from there. i just did the same thing about 2 minutes ago.

I have a Maytag Atlantis Model MAV7600 top loader w/stainless steel tub. It doesn't seem to be agitating even though it sounds like it is; clothes don't seem to be getting clean. It still spins clothes...

its all down to what the cost of the fix will be,,,plus how much use its had,,if its showing its age now, you need to work out yourself if its worth spending your hard earned money on patching it up and it may still pop its socks in a fuw years or buying a nice new one that should give good service,,,plus its nice to show off a new washer to your friends,
you know,,,like,,,look what i got,,,,eat your harts out

The washing machine started making a grinding noise during wash cycle (minor) and a much louder grinding noise during the spin cycle. Is this a bearing? and is it replacable? Maytag MAV7600

sounds like a bearing... although it could be the water pump... water pump is an easy fix... bearing is not an easy fix... take the belt off the bottom of the pump (under the machine) and see if it spins freely by turning it w/ your hand... or if it seems really stiff... if it looks good then it's def. your bearing...
