SOURCE: "Wrong disc" memorex dvd player error

Sounds like a build up of dust on the lens.

2 options -

Either buy a DVD lens cleaner

Note DVD LENS cleaner, NOT DVD Cleaner the latter is for the discs, not the player

or second option is to remove lid from your player (usually 5 or 6 screws) and gently swab the lens with a cotton bud or similar soft lint free product. Try not to push too hard on the lens or you may damage the mechanism.

The lens is really obvious as it faces upwards and looks like a small round clear glass bead.

Make sure its unplugged too!

SOURCE: My new memorex dvd player mvd2016 is stuck in

Please check your connections and placement of cables. The green colored cable must be in the green hole on the dvd player as well as the television. Likewise the blue cable must be in the blue hole on the dvd player and the television. Same thing with the red cable. If you are connecting a yellow cable to a green hole you are going to get a black and white picture every time. If this is not the problem sometimes there is a monochrome choice in either the dvd player menu or television menu but this is highly unlikely. This is normally due to connecting the dvd player incorrectly to the television.

SOURCE: why is picture scrambled on

The MVD is a progressive scan DVD player if your TV is 1080i or shows interlaced images only and doesnt have the option for progressive scan this would be an issue. I would suggest trying this DVD player on another television first. Also what is the model of your television?

Another issue is if you have and HD TV and are hooking up the A/V jacks to the HD component inputs this would also provide a jumbled picture. It would be a good idea to check and make sure that the A/V cabled are inserted into the correct input.

Dvd won't play my dvd's. keep saying no disc or wrong disc. what is the problem

  • Hi, Sounds like the lens is just really dirty. Go buy a leans cleaner disk and run it through the DVD player two or three times to get the lens good and clean. Repeat about once a month to keep the lens clean and running properly. Sometimes you need to run it through 3 or 4 times to get the lens to read again.

  • These disks I speak of have little bristles on it that "sweep" the lens clean. I use them on all my disk players and they work real well.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My DVD player keeps loading then it says "wrong disc." The DVD will play on other DVD players. Please help!

Diagnosing the fauty parts on dvd player is quite technical but i will suggest a diy solution that may help you on your problem.
Try cleaning the Lens of your DVD(It might be covered by dust thats why it can't read any disc) by a soft cotton bud. Be careful while doing these and try if it will work.
If the problem is still there then i've advice you to send it to repair shop to replace the faulty parts.

Thanks for using fixya.

Which recordable dvds play on this dvd player

this brand and model should be able to play the discs you mentioned witih no problems, unless it is defective, or a error is being made when you are recording the discs. If you are recording and they ar enot playing, most likely you are not "finalizing" the discs durring the burn processs. All discs MUST BE finalized to be played on any dvd player.

Re3gion free

After getting clarification from Fixya I can pass the links below to you to check yourself

Some players are harder than others to do this but you may want to
try here or here
Comments:
Toshiba's and JVC's are the harder ones to do

I use a Phillips myself as it is not only cheaper but has much more going for it than many of the higher end units. i throw anything at it and it just plays

The older the unit that harder it is to do the region free thing with.
I let my EX have the panasonic (big grin)

If you cant find a fix then look at the codes available for cheaper brands and how easy it is to do it before you purchase one.

Just a thought.
Hope this gives you the information you need

Sorry, you need a different DVD player. That kind won't eccept DVDs that have self-recorded stuff on it.
