Hello,

The condenser you are referring to could be the compressor. If it is clicking, that means it can not start. Let it cool for a while, unplug the unit. You may need to replace the starting components at the side of the compressor. This could be faulty. But if after replacing it, the compressor would still not start, then you have a bad compressor.

Check also the front lower grill, remove it and check the condenser if it is dirty. This is another cause of hard starting compressor.

Compressor is HOT, coil is not warm

Check to see if the fan is running down in the back by the compressor, if it isn't put a small fan back there blowing on the compressor, also make sure the compressor is running you can unplug it and block the fan by the compressor wait a few minutes and plug it back in so you can hear the compressor to see if it is running. if it hums and then clicks you probably have a bad relay and overload assy.

It is likely the condenser fan is not functioning. You may need to open the compressor access panel to check. If you can hear the compressor running, and the condenser feels warm, the fan should be running. If it isn't, it probably needs to be replaced. Another symptom is the area around the doors feels warm.

Maytag fridge not cooling

If the ref or freezer is too warm and you turn the dial to make it colder the compressor should come on. If the ref or freezer is not cold like you say the compressor should be on all the time. You should hear it, but you can definitely feel it and it should be very warm after a short while.
If the compressor does not get warm unplug the ref with the compressor running and plug it back in immediately. A good compressor should not start up right away.
If it is running and not getting warm and does start right up after unplugging it and plugging it back in it is inefficient and not compressing the freon gas enough and therefore not cooling enough.
The fan in the freezer should be running as should the fan under the refrigerator.
The condenser should be warm and the fan should be blowing[drawing] air across it when the compressor is on.
You don\'t repair compressors and to recharge them correctly is expensive.

check that compressor is running. if your hearing a hum and then click you probably have a faulty compressor relay. most times you can pull it off and shake it and you will hear little bits rattle, well it should actually make no sound. but it could still be bad if compressor fails to run. compressor may or may not be warm.
