Having two problems..my sharp FO 57700 fax machine is giving me an error message: RX doucement tray off" and I can fax out but when i faxed to, the fax went into memory, and i have no ideal how to retrieve it.. A friend gave me this fax machiene. On the screen it sais "out of paper" when there is clearly a lot of paper in the bottom tray. However it is missing the top paper tray but has the lower tray. Could that be the problem?

ugh, the first part of the question is not mine. I'm not sure what happened there.

I just have the "out of paper" text. The top paper intake tray seem to be working properly will send faxes no problem. However, I am unable to print anything. Any faxes recievced go straight into memory. Also when I press the "copy" button it just beeps twice real fast and nothing happens. It reads out of paper after that. The "red light" indicater highlighting the lower paper infeed tray is constantly on, which is full of paper.

    Thanks for responding.

Make sure you have a receiving tray. You can live without your sending tray. If you have the receiving tray and it says TRAY OFF thats because its not seated properly onto the frame. Make sure the tray engages the black sensor next to the speaker, also make sure you have paper in both trays to get rid of the OUT OF PAPER error. If the OUT OF PAPER error continues then you have a broken sensor in the upper tray.

Sounds like you have more than one problem. I need you to do a full memory clear(keep in mind you will lose every phone # that has been stored.)Turn your fax on while holding down the stop and start key don't let go until the screen says 1=yes,2=no. Press 1 for memory clear. Make sure you have paper in your upper tray(don't over fill your tray-just below red line)and 500 sheet lower tray. Next press function, 2,05. or make a copy. I am running out of writing space please respond back and let me know if you can at least receive something.

I am getting a "fax output error - cassette." It

Hi,

Pretty sure your paper tray button is set to get paper from the bottom paper cassette which is the tray that slides into the bottom of the printer.

If you switch the paper tray selection button* to use the rear feed tray you'll probably find it will print faxes successfully or you can put paper in the cassette tray...

*The paper tray selection button is just under (and slightly right of) the "Memory Card" button and has an icon image of the printer with two LED's (top and bottom). These lights indicate which of the trays is currently selected...

Hope that helps.

1st : Switch On The Machien without putting the papers after the machine is ready put the papers in it & try.

2nd : If 1st option not working under the paper tray there is 1 sensor just clean it with surgical spirit using cooton buds,

Switching to paper tray 2

The machine will only switch to tray 2 IF BOTH TRAYS are set to the same paper size "OR" if the paper sizes are different, the machine will switch to the lower (14") tray when it recieves a document which is 14" long.
You may have the same paper in both trays.... but do you have them both programmed for the same size??? When you select the top and then the bottom tray are they saying they are the same size.????

Fax uf 590

Pull open the bottom of the operating panel just above the paper tray one inch 1". Clean the small scanner glass with alcohol, it's hard to see. It's just above the first rubber roller at the black base of the machine.

Received in Memory

check the paper sensor at the bottom of where the paper comes out! this has a tendency to pop out of its little holder. Use a flashlight to see it! the sensor is blocking the beam.
