Thank you for that information. My camera was also taken to Jessops, and their comment was " We have seen a few of these lately. It will cost about £120 to repair, and may not be worth doing !!!"" Unfortunately, my guarantee has ended, so apart from writing to Olympus, I see little to do about it. This is very unfortunate, as it has been a very useful camera.

I have the same problem but sadly no solution.

As my camera is still under warranty I took it back to Jessops.  The camera is now with Olympus for repair.  The technician in Jessops hazarded a guess that the problem is a broken processor sitting behind the lens and as such the problem is "really bad".

Here's hoping you are still under warranty.

No image is captured by the screen itself (LCD screen works but completely dark).

Did you try pressing the display button several times? in both viewing mode and record mode? Cycle through all display modes, s you get used to the button, so it does not trow you off when it happens again.

Sony cybershot t300 lcd screen remains dark when switched on

Hi,
Your camera must be experiencing these symptoms due to a faulty CCD, and not due to other problems. If the problem is due to your dropping the camera, you might be out of luck.
If you have not dropped your camera and still facing this problem, then contact service people to replace the CCD imager in your camera .

Hope this helps .

Its a Panasonic DMC-TZ3. all on a sudden, LCD is not working. Monitors remains dark when I press 'On' button and the photo taken are also dark. However old photos on the SD card I can in the screen...

Hello

If you can view the pictures previously taken with the camera on the camera LCD, but the new photos just come out black, this is most probably a blown ccd.

This is a expensive component to replace, and you will also need specialized equipment to do this yourself.

I would suggest that you take your camera to your nearest repair shop and let them test the ccd.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards
Andrea

Camera was dropped and now pictures take but are completely black

As has been explained many times, dropping a camera damages it. Damaged cameras do not work. They are what is technically known as 'broken'. You will have to get it repaired.

If the pictures show up normal on the computer then the back light for the LCD is going bad.

Why do pictures taken with my digital cameras nearly always look too dark when viewed through my computer although they look fine on the cameras screen

It's usually just a matter of calibration between your camera's LCD and your computer monitor. The default settings on your camera's screen should be pretty close to accurate. Your monitor could be lighter or darker, depending on many factors, such as your preferences, or out-of-the-box settings. The best bet is to adjust your computer monitor to closeley match your camera's LCD.

White Screen

  1. Upon startup lens emerges but when screen appears it is white whereas it normally displays whatever the lens sees. When the shutter button is pressed the camera will focus and take a white picture which can be deleted. The camera does not flash although flash is set to automatic and photo taken in a dark room. Camera flashes (weakly) with flash set to manual on. Lens is unobstructed and appears to be perfectly normal. Camera was not dropped. Batteries have been changed.

Dark LCD

Is it possible that you've gone into M (manual) mode and the shutter speed is fast and a small aperture (large number) been selected? Or has the Exposure compensation been adjusted to be -2? Does it do the same thing in fully automatic mode? It certainly sounds like some setting has been adjusted incorrectly.
