Yeah None of the buttons work except on the On button

Cursor comes on and blinks. Calculator will not turn off. TI Connect will recognize the calculator via the Silver USB cable. Cleared RAM by removing all batteries. Still no effect.

Had this problem aswell, flashing cursor and unresponsive keypad - tried everything, the calculator was still accessible through the computer link - which we thought was strange. We ended up buying another for our son who was in the middle of exams.
Out of curiosity, and knowing the broken one was going in the bin we decided to take the back off it. We've scientific calculators in the family that are 30 years old and still work and found it strange that this one should fail after 18 months. When opened we were surprised it had some form of metal powder and metal shards all over the circuitry and around the inside of the case. It looks like it was from the metal sheet protection blanket covering the circuit board. It looked like small flakes of aluminium and fine powder that came from the screw points and up near the usb/ power adaptor end, where there we signs of the circuit board rubbing on the metal blanket which inturn was rubbing on the plastic case. Not sure why.
Anyway cleaned it all out, and removed the keypad rubber as the metal powder was under here aswell (just watch the keys as they all fall off - take a photo of it first or find the layout on the web); reassembled and were surprised that it came back to life! I'd only do this as a last resort if it was out of warranty.

Further to this - the calculator lasted 3 weeks then died again - the replacement we had to purchase hasn't missed a beat - I think the problems were with dodgy manufacturing and the product was not repairable - ended up throwing it out which was a waste of money, time and resources. Won't be buying any more Texas instruments based on this experience.

Why is my calculator frozen?

Is the cursor checkered? If so, there is no more space on the entry line. Use the DEL key to shorten it or clear it. Clear the RAM also.

The calculator appears to be frozen; none of the buttons respond; the display only shows "Ans" with a little 2 above and to the right of it, making it look like Ans is squared and then a blinking cursor

If pressing CLEAR doesn't get rid of it, try resetting the calculator. Remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds. Replace the batteries.
