I have a Maytag side-by-side refrigerator with an ice & water dispenser in the door. The water works and crushed ice works, but it does not dispense cubes - we get crushed even when it's set to cubed. Is there a way we can fix this ourselves?
Yup, do like I did. Clean the caddie of all ice cubes. Place a large water catching tray under the door, and run hot water from the inside where the the caddie holds the ice. You will see large chunks of ice that was freezing up your cube maker. After a couple of glasses of hot water pouring through the caddie, it will defrost and the frozen part will be released. Take off the caddie, and run water through it from your sink. Clearing all ice debris. Replace the caddie. Do not use for 24 hours, and it should run beautifully. Mine did that before it froze up and I cleaned it. You should probably take the caddie off every couple of months and run water through it to keep it clean of frozen debris, make sure its dried off well and put it back, wait overnight. and it should be ok.
