SOURCE: clear misfeed (A) on display screen

There is a thin black plastic armature with a tiny flag on the end of it. that flag movement trips a switch everytime a copy passes over it. If this arm is not seated right, then the flag is not dropping between the switch and which is why the jam lite is staying on. if you open the right sided acess jam door and look straight in, down in the lower right corner you should see this small black box shaped switch, it has 2 thin white wires connected to it By removing the paper tray, you can reach in and try cleaning it with canned air if its not the arm and flag hung up, dust in it is causing the problem.

I have a message on screen sayng " ADF Jam" there is no paper jamming the system. I cannot make this message go away, and so i cnnot use any other function of the printer. How might I clear...

Hi travlynn2,

  1. The ADF
unit is the grey paper tray located on the top of the scanner unit.
Check the following points if it does not feed paper, or you receive an "ADF jam" error message:

  2. Check the position of the ADF document guide:

    1. Lift up the ADF unit. Locate the document guide on the underside, as shown here:

    2. The document guide should be tucked in behind the grey plastic casing, but a paper jam can push it out of position. Figure 8 below shows the correct (1) and incorrect (2) positions:

    3. If your document guide looks like example (2)
on the right, lift it out on the right-hand side. Tuck it in behind the
grey section, so that it matches the example on the left (1).

    1. Close the scanner unit.

    2. If the printer is displaying "ADF Jam, press start to continue", press the B/W Start button to clear the error:

    3. Test the printer by scanning or faxing via the ADF unit.

  3. Check the ADF edge guides:

    1. The adjustable paper tray edge guides must be set to the correct paper size for the paper you are loading. Otherwise, the paper may skew, misfeed and/or jam.

    2. Slide the edge guides to enclose the loaded
paper (in the direction of the yellow arrows below), without causing it
to bunch or crease. The paper should be aligned with the relevant paper size marker:

Figure 9. The ADF edge guides.

  4. Check the ADF unit feed rollers:

    1. Open the cover of the ADF by pulling up the grey lip, as shown below:

    2. Check thoroughly for fragments of paper and foreign objects. Take care not to tear any jammed paper when you remove it.

    3. Use the green gear (circled in yellow below) to turn the paper feed rollers and feed through jammed paper:

    4. Paper dust or foreign material on the rollers may cause paper to misfeed. Clean these parts with a damp, well-wrung cloth:

      1. The upper paper pickup rollers (circled in red, above top left). You can turn these by hand.

      2. The lower paper pickup rollers. These will rotate as you turn the green gear (circled in yellow above). See the inset for a close-up of the lower rollers.

    5. When complete, close all the covers.

    6. If the printer is displaying "ADF Jam, press start to continue", press the B/W Start button to clear the error:

    7. Test the printer by scanning or faxing via the ADF unit.

  5. Check that the ADF unit sensors are not obstructed.

    1. Open the cover of the ADF unit.

    2. Look at Figure 12 below. Check the position of the black plastic parts (the actuators) circled in red.

    3. If the black plastic actuators do not stick out from the ADF cover, they may have been pushed out of position by a paper misfeed and be obscuring the ADF sensors. Tap the back of the ADF unit firmly to release the actuators.

    4. When complete, close all the covers. Check and test the printer as explained in Step 6.d.vi.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Paper feeder stuck

If the paper feeder stuck, do the following:
  1. Gently pull any jammed paper out from the output tray or sheet feeder.
  2. If paper is stuck inside, open the printer cover and remove the jammed paper, including any torn pieces. Then close the printer cover.
  3. If paper remains near the sheet feeder, press the paper feed roller lever inside the paper feeder to release the jammed paper, then carefully pull it out.
  4. Load the paper correctly.
  5. Press the cp_button_14.gif stop button to resume printing.
  • If the printer continues to jam or misfeed paper, and you are certain that there are no foreign objects lodged down inside the paper feed area, your printer may require service. Please call Epson technical support for further assistance.

I have a Sharp Al-2040cs when I turn it on the misfeed indicator is blinking. I checked it there no misfeed paper or piece of paper inside. How can I fix this problem?

The MISFEED Indicator blinks when a MISFEED has occurred. Remove the misfed paper referring to the the description of MISFEED REMOVAL beginning on page 65 of the pdf Manual at:

    http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForHome/HomeOffice/PrintersFaxMachines/Manuals/cop_man_AL2030_AL2040CS.pdf

When the MISFEED Indicator is blinking you should look closer at the paper feed area (see page 66 of the PDF). You may need to remove the paper tray to find any remnants of paper. If after closing the side cover the light does not stop blinking you will need to follow through as per the illustrated instructions.

Remember after removing jammed paper, you need to press the clear key to clear the MISFEED error.

If after doing all this the error signal has not cleared, power down the printer; unplug from the power supply; let rest 5 - 10 minutes; plug back i to power supply; turn printer on and see if this resolves issue.

Trust this is helpful. Please vote. :)

Hello, I have a Brother Fax 560 (Plain Paper Fax). I am having difficulty receiving faxes. It is not transmitting on the receiving end. What is the problem?

Hi Despite the increase in texting, email, Facebook and Twitter, we still hang on to our fax machines. They are perfect for sending copies of original documents despite document jams, buying ink or special paper, maintaining a phone line--we love 'em. Basic problems like paper misfeeds can be troubleshooted through the use of some basic steps.
    Check the Message
  • Check the messages on the display of your Brother fax machinemag-glass_10x10.gif. The messages will be pretty self-explanatory such as "Insert Doc, Again" or "Please Supply Paper." "Insert Doc. Again" means that that the documents weren't placed on the feeder correctly; just follow the instructions and try again. A message like "Please Supply Paper" will simply mean you need to replenish the paper. "Memory Overflow" is probably the most cryptic. It just means that the memory capacity was exceeded and it has stopped recording. Press "Enter" to register the documents in memory and to complete the operation.
  • Misfeeds
  • Clearing an original's misfeed by pushing down on the release lever to open the front panel. Remove the failed original and close the panel. To clear recording paper that's gotten jammed in the paperfeed, open the turn guide and remove the paper. To clear paper from the transport unit, which is in the top, open the cover, remove the drum and toner. Lift the guide and remove the paper by pulling upwards. Paper can get stuck in what is called the Fixing Unit. Open the top cover. Again, remove the drum and toner. Open the Fixing Unit cover and remove the paper by pulling it back.

HP 6310 - paper misfeeds and bunches up to one side when feeding into printer, causing paperjam. I tried cleaning the rollers, with poor results. Thanks for any help.

    Please try these steps

    1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
    2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
    3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
    4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
    5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
    6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
    7. Turn the printer off.
    8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
    9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
