I have posted here before and so far no-one has managed to help me. Numerous letters and e-mails to Toshiba have done nothing because my warranty expired. My reasoning was that these problems started before the warranty expired and also, I believe this model tv is knowingly being sold with these problems.... Here is my story--Condensed My problems started when my 32D46 was about a year and a half old and it started with the white lines covering the top 4 inches of the screen. I could bypass this problem at times using the "widescreen" mode. The nest royal PITA was when I turned the tv off one night and could not turn it back on the next day. I tried everything and the tv would not turn back on. Funny but after a couple or three weeks the tv managed to turn on again! The lines were still at the top of the screen but the tv was able to turn and off again. This same thing happened three times! The last time the tv would not rurn on for months. I actually gave up and I was compaining to Toshiba trying to get a replacement. One day I tried it and bam--it turned on again! This time though the screen was all blurry to the extent that it was unwatchable. I ended up taking the back off and inside there were 2 buttons. One is for " Focus" and the other is called "screw" I believe. I managed to bring my tv back into focus and I even managed to adjust the "screw" button to lessen the white lines at the top. This was about 2 weeks ago... Three days ago I turned the tv off at night and the next day I could not turn it back on and that is where I am at now. I cannot get the tv to turn back on. I tried everything suggested to me including removing the on/off switch and unfortunately the switch was not the problem. Whjile plugged in I can here a buzzing sound inside the tv so something is going on but it will not run on no matter what. The thing is I am almost certain one of these days it will turn back on. I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but there is a rumor that someone getting together a classaction and I believe it is worthy. You spend hard earned money on a tv and you do expect it to outlast the warranty.... I am now using a very small and old tv that I swear must be over 30 years old and still works perfectly. The old saying is surely true- "They don't make them like they used to"--sad but true... Is there any part I can replace to make my dammed tv turn back on? I am currently unemployed and cannot afford to buy a new tv. Thanks for reading my vent! Rich PS- Please complain to Toshiba if you have this problem. If we all get together on this they just may offer a recall or something. I have a Toshiba 27" and the white lines have started on the top of my screen. My T.V. is 6 years old. A t.v. should last at least 10 years in my opinion. Booo on Toshiba (i used to love you guys)
