Dish network UHF remote works intermittently.

My dish network uhf remote control works intermitantly. occasionally it works, mostly it does not. IR works if pointing directly at descrambler, but that does me no good as the tv is upstairs away from descrambler. Batteries are new btw, and I have tried different sets of batteries as well. Thanks in advance if you can help.

If you extend the small antenna that is on the back of the receiver by using a short cable and a barrel connector to get the antenna out of the entertainment center or out from the TV this will help alot

I don't really have a solution, but this was the solution to the issue I was having. I have four televisions in the house and one DVR multi-room unit. I only had trouble with the IR/UHF remote on the south facing sun porch that is flooded with sunlight during the day. I had a hard time getting the remote to work at all with the DVR and before I got this set up I had a regular DVR that was hooked via the upstairs tv with a remote control changer tower that had a unit on the porch and a unit upstairs aimed at the DVR. The antennae was the issue the entire time and needed to be pulled out of the entertainment center/rear of the DVR. Now I can point the remote at the concrete floor and it still works. As a side note, this is a porch added after the home was built so the real exterior wall of the house is between the tv and DVR so there is a lot of possible interference from wiring, metal, etc...

Sanyo TV Code for Dish remote 21.0 IR/UHF PRO only operates TV Power and Volume Functions.

Hello Witt Thomas,

I can understand the concern and wanting the remote to work the TV Menus. It is possible with our remotes, however it depends on the TV itself. I've seen instances where there are 2 TV's in one house, and 1 will do it, while the other won't.

If you have tried all of the remote codes, and none work, the only other options we have available are to try a powr scan, or teach the remote. This link http://www.mydish.com/support/teach-learning-remote-20-21 can provide the steps on how to teach that model of remote control!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Robert, my name is Cheri Torres and I work on the Social Media Team at DISH. It sounds like your remote is experiencing IR(Infrared) interference from your LG TV. You can resolve this issue by converting your TV1 remote to UHF(Ultra High Frequency) instead of IR. In order to do this you will need a UHF remote, the 20.0 remote is only an IR remote. Please email me directly at [email protected] with your account number or phone number on the account so that I can look into getting a UHF remote sent out. Thank you.

Hello, this is Becki Barned, with DISH Network customer service. For this issue, since you have already replaced the remote and have the 5 foot coax cable on the antenna, then at this point, we would want to send a tech out for you. The technician can determine if this is an issue with the receiver box, or can set up a back feed for you. I can help you out with this issue further. You can e-mail me at [email protected] .

jholsinger1,

It sounds like this is TV 1 that you are having this problem with the remote, is that correct? What has changed from when the remote was working till now? Was anything moved like the TV/receiver? You may have some type of interference with the UHF signal. Without getting more specific information, I'm generalizing the trouble shooting steps. Would you clarify if it's TV 1 or TV2. Please post to this site and I will respond back to you.

My remote control only works for tv on & off and volume but not to change dish channel

I experienced this problem as well. I have a dual receiver and had issues turning channels on TV2; but counld easily access the volume. After reading the Dish manual, I learned that my TV1 and TV2 remotes connect through different signals (IR = infrared for TV1; and UHF= ultra-high frequency for TV2).

Check your remote to see if there is a UHF logo at the very bottom (under the Dish Network logo). The UHF remote sends ultra-high frequency radio signals to a UHF antenna which is connected to the back panel of the receiver. Make sure that you receiver is properly dusted and then check to make certain that the UHF antenna located on the back of the receiver is positioned straight-up. When the antenna is not correctly positioned it can cause problems with your remote signals.
