Frost building up inside freezer.

Frost free means that the evaporator coil will not accumulate a thick layer of frost. It will not prevent frost from accumulating on the walls of the freezer. To slow down the amount of frost build up inside the freezer, do not keep the freezer door open for any longer than necessary. The freezer door seal may be defective. This would allow moisture in that would freeze on the inside walls. A heater with timed intervals to come on is one way for a frost free feature. But this will not work for frost build up on the inside walls of the freezer. It would only melt the frost and then it would refreeze again.

Stopped cooling.  Check the backl of the freezer to see if the Coils are Frosted completely.  The buzzing sound could be the frost touching the  Fan in the back of the freezer behind the cover. Sounds like your Defrost heater has gone south. 

1. unplug the Freezer, power down.. for safety

2. Clean all the food out of your Freezer,

3. Remove the shelves and Ice maker tray stuff.

4. REmove the panel in the back of your freezer

5. Is the Coil(Evaporator, Radiator)you see  frosted up? 

6. At the bottom of this coil. you should see a metal assembly that stretches accros the bottom of the coil with a wire connection on both ends. This is the Defrost heater.

Remove the heater and look to see if the heaterspring inside the glass tube is broken.  If so, get a new one from Ebay, or www.repairclinic.com.

 

In the mean time while your waiting on a part, Use a hair dryer to get rid of all the frost and put your freezer back topgether.  You sahoul get 2 or 3 weeks of service on your Freezer, before it happens again.

 

1)The door gasket on the freezer door helps keep the cold air in and the warm air out. If the gasket is dirty or damaged, it may prevent the door from closing properly, which can lead to frost buildup on your freezer walls. To make sure the door is sealing, slip a dollar bill or a sheet of paper between the gasket and the freezer and then close the door. If the bill or paper pulls free with little or no resistance, the gasket isn't sealing properly. Wipe the gasket with a damp cloth to remove dirt, grease and other residue. If the gasket is damaged, replace it with a new one. Sometimes frost can accumulate on the back panel of your freezer if the door is open too long or too often. When you open the door, you let warm, humid air inside, and this condenses and freezes. Make sure there are no packages preventing the door from fully closing, and limit how often you open the door by removing what you need all at once.
2)Ventilation is important because it ensures your freezer stays cold. If something inside the freezer blocks the internal vents, the freezer may become warm, causing condensation to form on the walls, and eventually leading to frost buildup. When loading your freezer, make sure there are no items resting against the rear wall of the freezer and space the contents out as much as possible to improve ventilation.
3)Side-by-side refrigerators with a built-in ice maker may accumulate frost if the flap on the ice dispenser doesn't close properly. This allows warm air to enter the freezer side, condense and freeze, causing frost buildup over time. Open the freezer door and examine the flap inside the ice chute. It should be flush against the housing. If it is not, empty the ice bin and make sure there is no ice or debris preventing the flap from closing.
4)If your freezer door closes properly and nothing is keeping it open, frost buildup on the back panel may indicate a problem with the freezer's self-defrost system. The self-defrost system turns off the compressor for a short time every six to 12 hours so it can turn on the defrost heater. This melts any frost buildup on the freezer coils, and the water drains to the pan beneath the freezer. If this component fails, frost continues to build. Move the contents to another freezer and turn your freezer off for 24 to 48 hours to manually defrost the interior. If frost builds up again, contact a qualified appliance repair technician to inspect the defrost timer and repair the problem.

Your defrost heater or defrost thermostat needs to be replaced.

It sounds like the evaporator fan is hitting ice that is built up on the evaporator coil. When it's making the noise, open the freezer door and see if it stops.
(Most models are wired so that the evaporator fan cuts off when the freezer door is open.)
Check the inside back, lower panel of the freezer for ice built up or frost on it. If there is, you have a defrost problem that is most likley a bad heater. It's located around the coil inside the freezer behind the panel you will be looking at. The defrost problem would explain the freezer not freezing ice cream.

you are still not getting a seal on that flap. It sounds as if it may be warped. THe reason the frost and ice is building up is due to the flap not sealing there isn't any other reson for your problem. Good luck on your repairs

Remove back wall from inside freezer and melt all frost with a hair blower. The most likely cause of the frost build up is a burnt out defost heater, second most likely cause is the defrost control. Can't give you part numbers because you don't list a model number or even a brand. Melting the frost and not fixing the underlying problem will get your refrig working for a week or so until the frost builds up again.

Hi: The fact that it still makes ice tells me the freezer is a zero degrees. When you said condensation in the freezer did you mean frost? If your defrost heater fails it will cause the frost free freezer to build up frost. The frost will build up and block the vent that supplies the cold air to the fresh food. The defrost heater is behind the metal wall at the back of the freezer, at the very bottom. A glass tube with a metal coil in it. The coil can break and stop the defrosting. Replace that. Use a hair dryer to melt the frost from behind the panel. All of it top to bottom. You need to remove all the frost to free up the airways. I hope this helps, Jeff

You have a defrost problem. The coils freeze up behind the freezer wall and the air does not flow properly. Replace the heater, defrost timer, and thermostat. get me the model number and i will give you the part numbers so you can order the parts.

Defected DEFROST HEATER can cause frost build up on the panel at the back of the freezer,and freezer stop cooling and ice frozen on unit so air could not flow to refrigerator side.Water will coming out caused of unbalanced freezing,and causing the flooding of water in the floor. You must change this defroster heater assembly so it will works normal again..
