Most lens have a red spot on them. There is usually a red spot on camera (look on left side). The one on camera body is the unlock and needs to be pushed and held in as you rotate lens red spot towards the camera spot. When they line up you can remove lens. ?

The red light that looks like an empty cylinder on the Sharp AL 1631 Grayscale Copier panel is the "drum replacement required" indicator. The "cartridge replacement" indicator is represented by 6 dots forming a triangular shape.
The drum replacement indicator lights up when there are about 1000 copies left until its end of life. It is only when the indicator starts blinking that the drum really needs replacement.
The part number for the drum is AL-100DR.
I hope this helps.
The scanner is not reading the white reference strip under the glass properly. You will need to clean or have cleaned the scanner optics and at least the white strip under the original glass. This strip is located under the left edge of the glass...under the scale that has the original sizing on it. The machine uses this strip on start up to reference the scanner. Simple fix.
Sounds like the scanner is locked. Look under the scanner where the paper comes out, there is a clear wheel, turn it all the way one way or the other and that will unlock the scanner.
if a number and alphabeth appears alternately The copier will not function. Turn the power switch off, remove the power cord from the outlet, contact any authorized service representative for overall service maintainance
