New brother brand black cartridge, cleaned 5 times to finally get black to print, now it's blurry, text is blurry, can't read it

We are going to attempt to do a "power purge" to get rid of any clogged ink nozzles. Note, this will probably eat up about half of your ink, but that is the price you must pay in order to attempt to fix this bad boy.
1) Get into maintenance mode. Press these keys: Menu -> Black Start -> Scan x4 (hit it four times). A number pad should come up. If not, do it again.
2) Hit key 7, then key 6.
3) Press the right key until you get to "CLEANING BLACK."
4) Press 3.
5) Press Black Start.
After it purges and gets back to the main maintenance screen, press keys 9 and 9.
Let your printer start back up. If this does not work, try the above steps up to three times. If it does not work then, you need a new print head, which is not a user-replaceable part on this model.
Good luck.

run software cleaning function for the heads and run the alignment, make sure that you move all the stickers from the cartridges and the vent hole is clear, clean the inside housing from any dry ink...let me know how that work for you and please do not forget to rate my service so we can improve on it with your help. SOURCE: black ink will not print. Colours ok
Get a syringe, remove the needle, remove the ink cartridge and use the syringe to blow air GENTLY through the hole the cartridge connects to. Make sure you have a cleaning cloth to remove ink dislodged from pipe connected at the print head, do this gently to remove any obstruction and there should not be too much mess and can easily be cleaned up.

Hello Acerilli
Sounds like the print head is either blocked or defective.
Try cleaning the print head first to see if this clears up the lack of black ink.
Press the "menu" button and then scroll down to the "ink" option and press OK
Now scroll down to "cleaning" and select OK.
Select "Black" and press OK then Black Start.
Repeat this process up to a maximum of 5 times.
If this does not clear it up, try a "purge".
Press "menu" "black start" "0 7 6" in sequence as quickly as possible (within 5 seconds)
All the lights should flash and you will see "cleaning_all" on the screen.
Now press 3 and Black start.
If this still does not work and there is no black, the print head is defective and needs to be replaced.

1st question that should be asked, is was it a genuine Brother approved cartridge with the right value of filtered ink?
If not then the jets will be possibly clogged.
if you return it for repair to brother under warranty, make sure its fitted with genuine cartridges otherwise warranty is void
please rate my help++++thanks for using fixya
