Hello,
I have a Coleman Powermate 3500 (Model PM0433500) that will not make AC power. I only let it sit for about 2 months, and it was working when I shut it off last.
I have tried plugging a drill into it, and spinning it backwards. This works to get the drill going under AC power, but only while the drill is running. When I stop the drill, it will not start again unless I spin it backward again.
I have also tried flashing the field, by using a 12V car battery, unplugging spark plug, hooking + of car battery to small terminal of generator outlet, and - of car battery to large terminal of generator outlet. I pull starter rope 4-5 times, and then disconnect battery and start generator. No AC!
Can anyone help me get this generator flashed? Thanks!

Hello, thanks for the info. It ended up being the capacitor (22 microfarad). The old one was swelled and only reading 4 microfarads.
Thanks!
Daniel
You more than likely have a failed voltage regulator. If you still need help, let me know...
thank you daniel...we were ready to take our generator (same model) to the repairman when I happened across your post (same problem)...bought a $10.00 capacitor on ebay, just installed it and...It's fixed! Happily producing power!
P.S.We had also tried the flashing fix, to no avail.
