I have a Maytag Neptune that the on/off button wont stay on once it is started. Also started leaking water today like it is adding more water than normal and leaks out the front once the tub is filled. It acts like it the timer is out of sync with the cycle. About a week ago it gave off a burning smell. But it stopped and worked fine until today. Any suggestions?
We had the same problem on our Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWQ, it turned out to be the controller board behind the control panel. It was about $350 to repair. We are now having problems with the motor not spinning. The repairman offered to sell us the newer model Neptune. Ha Ha. I'm not putting my hard earned money into Maytags hands again. I'd rather by a wash board.
You have to investigate where the burning smell came from. Start at the timer and then check the main board. Also check the drain pump.

Me either. Went and bought me an LG Tromm. I love it. Quieter and It washes a mess load of clothes at a time.
