This is a common problem with a momentary power failure, the controller doesn't get time to reset and return to an idle state before the machine gets power back and it gets "confused". You will almost certainly find that unplugging from the mains (Not just powering off on the button, as some door locks have a sneak circuit, even when the power is turned off at the button) and leaving the machine undisturbed for a full 20 minutes will allow a reset, the door lock will disengage and all will be well when you power back up.

If you have children I would urge you not to bypass. They are there as mandated by law after a child had his arm pulled off reaching in on a spin cycle.

Easier to buy and replace the lock. It appears it has 4 wires because it is a sensor and a lock.

Maytag washer mod # mvwx500xw0. Fills then empties no agitation,goes to rinse same thing happens,goes to spin not spinning.Then shows done and clothes are soaked

Check your belt if belt is good then see if the motor is good or even getting power to it.

Many new washer use a lid lock instead of a brake to keep people from reaching into the spinner before it stops. You probably have a
bad lid lock. Have a repair man open the top cover and repair or replace the lid lock.

You have lost signaling from the Left Hand Lock. The washer has not see the lid go open thru the signaling with the magnetic reed relay in the Left Hand Lid Lock.

I can't get the washer to unlock. The cycle is stuck and I think the load is unbalanced but I can't get the washer door electronic lock to open even after I turn the washer off and unplug it

Manual Door Unlocking Procedure for Maytag Neptune Top Load Washers

Safety first. Unplug the machine.
Insert a plastic putty knife blade in the front edge of the machine between the top cover and the cabinet and in line with the lid seam on the left and on the right.
Push in to release the latches holding the top cover to the cabinet.
Lift the front of the top cover and release the lid from the lid locks.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the lid locks. Clean the terminals to ensure good connection.
Reconnect the lid locks wiring harness and push the top cover back into the cabinet until the latches lock up.

Please let me know if the problem comes back for further troubleshooting and repair guide.

Maytag Neptune Lid Lock Replacement

I have replaced my right lid lock twice and the second one just went bad. The left one does not matter, only the right one tells the washer the lid is locked. I think the bleach cup is the problem, bleach corodes the metal contacts in the lock. Try removing the plug and cleaning the contacts. I am going to bypass this lock I am not buying any more parts for this unit!
People have reported replacing this lock several times in unser two years.
