When i take a photo the screen shows white and when i switch to veiw the photo it is also white ,but i have a clear screen when vidio or veiwing to take a photo,i tried hiting the logo and that didnt work My Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 still takes pictures, but I can only get a white light screen and can only take pictures through the view fnder. I took 80 pictures in Malta including three videos and they all came out fine, but I couldn't see them on the screen.

can play your cassette? if the picture is clear in play back mode,then there may be problem with the image sensor (CCD) in the camera,open the camera, measure the voltage at the CCD board if the voltage is not correct check the fuses on the mother board.

Does the display in the veiw finder look like the screen? Do you mean it's blank/white?

hi buy a card reader cost about $5 dollars on E/BAY plug it into youre mac & put the sd card in & hope it all works ...cheers..

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check this link for more info.

• buy a memory card connector and then download
• or make sure to take photos on the memory card
• the folder containing the photos must be hidden ,try to make it unhidden(veiw- folder options-veiw-'show hidden folders')

just call SONY in ur area they will do it free of charge even if u are out of warranty and even not on list dont worry it is a known problem thousands are facing these days just call them and everything will be ok PLS RATE ME FIXYA for help

Under the veiwfinders eye peice is a small switch! look in veiw finder and adjust switch to focus and it will clear up for you!

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to card setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the picture error message and the cards can be used again.
