there is a service bulletin for this.
It sounds like the CMOS battery(s) are dead. They hold the most recent boot information including current date. Assuming both machines are on the older side, it's entirely possible the CMOS batteries no longer are providing enough power to retain this information.
Press Menu and select the Setting Menu. Navigate down to "Date Adjust" and press Right-arrow, and the Date Adjust screen will appear. Navigate around and change the settings. Press OK when done.

If you set your system clock to before October 31st2006, you will be able to burn:
1. Right-Click the clock on the taks bar 2. Select Adjust Date/Time 3. Press the Change Date-Time button 4. Pick a date before October 31st 2006 If this doesn't work, then it is caused by some other computer problem. Check your decoder and DVD burner.

• HMMA plant: Produced from Job #1 to October 6, 2005 (VIN like 5NPE...)
You probably opened an old file. You will need to find the current file that you were using. Use the search and search for all files ending in .QBW
Check the dates they were last used (you don't want the one with the most current date since that was the old file that was opened.)
Have the administrator of Quickbooks log in mono-user mode and go under Edit --> Preferences --> Accounting --> Company Preferences Tab --> Change the closure date / password from there. He will be able to remove or assign a new password.
