The problem actually is that that the TV works with 720P but not 1080i When I tried a new 1080i source into the HDMI the picture and audio is broken up the same as when I use the SCART and tuner

SOURCE: audio via hdmi

I had the same problem with the same configuration. In addition to the HDMI which is (DVD and Audio OUT only by the way) you need to connect the TV to the DVD through a high quality SCART cable as well. Remember to connect the SCART cable only while both the TV and DVD are switched off. To get the TV sound out of the DVD surround sound you need to click the FUNCTION key on the DZ230 remote a couple of times till you get the word TV on its screen, this is when you should hear the TV sound coming out of your surround sound as expected. Good luck.

SOURCE: sony kdl-40v5100 has handshake problem

1.This issue sounds as though the TV connection circuit has an issue.
2. You have changed the DVR and the HDMI cables and you still have an issue with the video (pink screen) indicates a video circuit issue ( improper voltage or current) at the video section of the circuit.
3. This will require some troubleshooting by a qualified tech.
4. To make sure, try connecting another properly working LCD TV to the cable box or DVR an check. If you get a picture and sound properly it is the TV.
5. Usually a cable box is QA'd (quality assured) by the company and will not be sent unless tested 1st

I have a UK satellite receiver with Roa input and scart output and want to connect it to a hdmi TV. Are there any scart to hdmi connectors and will that work or do I need a convertor as well?

Simply using a cable with a scart connection at one end and an HDMI connection at the other will not work as scart is an analogue signal and HDMI is a digital signal and so you will need to buy an HDMI to Scart Converter/Adapter to change the signal.
There no such thing as Scart to HDMI Cable HDMI Hero Splitting HDMI pictures has never been easier

Connect with componet cables.

The only digital audio input for this TV will be via the HDMI input. Of course, even with HDMI in, you're only going to get a simple stereo output from the TV. You can use the analog L & R audio inputs for a very similar sound from the TV speakers.

The digital multi-channel audio (Dolby Digital, THX, 5.1, 7.1, etc) encoded in the program should be connected to a suitable multi-channel amplifier with either a TOSLINK (optical), RF (coaxial) or HDMI cable for theatre-like sound. This can be done by (a) cabling from the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) directly to a multi-channel amp and speakers, or (b) from the HDMI output of these devices (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) into one or both of the TV's HDMI inputs. This will provide only stereo sound output from the TV speakers. You should connect the TV's TOSLINK optical "Digital Output" jack with an optical cable to the amplifier's TOSLINK optical input jack to obtain theatre sound.

To listen to the program shown, you would select the amplifier input assciated with the optical, RF or HDMI input that is connected to the source (DVD, BluRay Disk, Set Top TV Tuner, etc.) if connected directly. If the TV HDMI input(s) are used, they are output to the TV optical output and should be connected to the amplifier optical input. The amp input associated with the optical input should be selected to hear the program with theatre-like sound.

Today a bought a sanyo dp42841. I have run through the setup 12 times and no analog or digital channels can be found. My connection is from the HDMI port on the back of the DirecTV converter to the HDMI...

since you are using hdmi input, and have a direct tv reciever, you are not using the tv tuner, therefor it will not store any channels. all the channels are stored in the sat reciever. switch your input to hdmi 2 and you should see the direct tv box. dont worry about the tv stroing any channels, because it wont, all the channels from the direct tv box are in video format not rf.

PS3 connection

If I remember correctly the Playstation 3 is set to display through the analog output as default.
Plug in your HDMI cable, and plug in the analog SCART cable that came with the box, put your TV on the analog channel that matches the SCART input and start the Playstation. Once you complete the initial Playstation setup you can go to system settings and change the video output from analog SCART to digital HDMI.

Good luck.

DVD/VCR Combo

your model is "tuner free" that means it does not have the RF screw in connector. Buy one that has a tuner, preferably both ATSC(USA digital) and NTSC(USA analog)

What model of DVD player do you have? The RF cable jacks on dvd players are only for switching the RF. All players always use AV input/output or Component input/output, the later is the best.

Hi guys, don't know if the previous post got through. Have a new LCD tv and DVDr, connected with a HDMI cable. when DVDr switched off analogue and digital picture is fine. as soon as dvd is switched on...

yes, hdmi will give you better results..
are you running hdmi to hdmi connection on tv from cable box?
if so, that is correct but as for the dvdr, what tv port are you connecting it to? i would use another hdmi cable for the dvd too for best picture resultif it's an option on your dvd.. you should have multiple input outlets on your lcd with 1-3 options for input devices via analog or hdmi.. so analog is not hdmi--hdmi is digital so it switches to the hdmi resolution when you turn it on..

let me know how it goes and if i was helpful involving resolution.. helpful feedback is appreciated.. thanks, d

your dvd player should be set to a different
