Roper Washer Problems 01-23-2014 I bought this Roper Model RTW4640YQ on May 6, 2013. I am retired and live alone. I seldom do laundry, but I have used the washer 4 or 5 times. This evening on Thursday, 01-23-2014, I put clothes in the washer and pressed the start button, but nothing happens. I have tried pressing the start button with the lid closed and with it open, but nothing happens. I have held the start button down for 5 seconds, still nothing happens. There's no lights, nothing. I checked the Breaker Box and tested the power at the outlet and I have power, but still nothing happens. This is a new washer and I have not done more than 4 or 5 loads in it since I bought it new at Lowe's. It acts like it's not getting power, but I know that it is and I have unplugged and replugged it in several times to be sure it's getting a good connection. I have opened and closed the Breaker for this circuit and I have tested the circuit and I have good power going to the washer. I have tried selecting different load settings and temperature settings and different load settings, but nothing works, no lights, nothing. What should I do? Should I call Lowe's and ask for a replacement or ask them to send a technician? I am completely lost as to what I can do. I am 65-years old and I just came home from the hospital after having surgery and I can't do much activity of any kind? What do you suggest?
SOURCE: Admiral top loader no spin cycle
you can take an ohmmeter and remove one lead from the switch set your meter to continuity and see if it reads open then depress the switch and see if its closed or take both wires off the switch and put a jumper wire in the connectors to bypass the switch and see if it spins and yes its normal to keep agitating with the lid open the switch just works on spin
SOURCE: Washer belt is loose, & seem to slip at start of spin cycle.
there are several drive belts for this model... check here to see if the one you are fitting is the correct one... also,is the tensioner siezed? causing the tension to be too slack therefore allowing the belt to shred at speed?
check here .. http://www.partselect.com/AppliancePartList.aspx?Brand=Admiral&Appliance=Washer&ModelNum=&Type=Belt&MinSize=U&MaxSize=U&Electrical=U&Metal=U&Plastic=U&OneColor=U&PageSize=15&FirstPart=1
SOURCE: Admiral washer, spins too slow so clothes are still soaked
The clothes being wet and the drum spinning slow are probably due to a worn belt, tilt the machine back and the belt can be removed and replaced from below with no tools.
If the machine is constantly filling with water the level pressure switch requires changing. Isolate the machine, use a knife or thin bladed tool and insert between the front panel and the top panel approx 4" from each side to release the clips, the top should lift up, the pressure switch i at the back LH side, you will see a small pipe attached to it from lower down the drum, replace the pressure switch pull off the terminals and the hose and replace using the same order of connections.
