Epson x800 said that it could not recognize Epson photo black 273 cartridgelage. I immediately replace it with, another same cartridge PDK 273 that I had bought separately from Best Buy (the other black was with the other colors bought from Epson. Now it says it will no recognize the Black double cartridge. Is there something I can do?

SOURCE: Epson C66 won't print without color cartidges

epson printers won't really print if one cartridge is not detected or detected as empty. the only option that i can suggest to you is that, buy a continous ink kit at any ink refilling station in your place. i highly recommend that dont leave a cartridge empty with ink cause it might clog your printhead. using a continous ink system's cartridge is auto reset, whenever the printer says that the cartridge is empty, it will automatically resets itself. ink refill kit comes with 100+ml of ink per color i think. and it is much cheaper using original epson ink.

SOURCE: Epson DX8400: how can i get it to print black only

Sorry Desperate. All inkjet printers, from all companies,  are programed to only operate with ink in all containers to avoid other problems. Their is no workaround. Please rate me not harshly just  because you don't like the answer. Rate based upon the truth of an answer.

SOURCE: Cannot print black on epson cx7400

I've had nothing but problems with Epson cartridges and drying up of ink. If the cartridge is a little old, say a few months, then don't be surprised if its dried up. especialy if its in warmer weather near a window.

If its new, then make sure that the tape is remved from the cartridge [obvious but I thought I'd mention it].

Also, its expensive, but you shodu lonly use genuine Epson ink cartirdiges adn not genreic brands or refills.. having spent coutless hours reparing ruined printers because someone thought they could save a few bucks.. it ain't worth it in the long run.. buy the genuine ink adn use good quality paper..

My epson wp-4530 won't recognize black ink. I replaced the cartridge with the proper cartridge and now it keeps telling me to load the cassette properly.

The Epson printer won't recognize ink cartridges due to ink cartridges not being installed properly, dried or empty ink, outdated printer drivers, and more.

Follow the steps to fix the Epson printer ink cartridge issue:

I have been using non Epson cartridges for years on my RX620 but today when I changed the black cartridge, I got a message that none of my cartridges were recognized as Epson and the printer is now locked...

Newer Epson ink cartridges and other manufacturers place a chip in the cartridge that interacts with the printer, telling it is a genuine cartridge.

If an aftermarket cartridge is used, it may not have the chip and subsequently will not work with the printer.

The best work around is to use genuine Epson cartridges, but when they are empty, take them to a store that can re-fill them or exchange them for a previously refilled genuine cartridge.

Epson do not recognizing new cartridges

Just posted this answer somewhere else...you probably touched the little green microchip on the cartridge. The oils in your hand prevent the printer from reading the cartridge. Hope this helps, sucks that you may have to buy a new cartridge though!

"Ink cartridges cannot be recognized" when using genuine Epson

i had this happen to me twice with two different people, it is highly possible that your black inks are defective, its also highly possible that one of the other inks are causing this error. take them all out, and put one and see what happens, do this one at a time until you see something screwey.

also possible, the contacts on the printhead are dirty or are pushed in.

also possible, bad printhead.

Why won't my CX9400F recognize Epson ink cartridges

The Epson CX9400F printer seems to require replacement of all the color ink cartridges, even if only the Black is empty.

I print almost exclusively in Black, but with my first change of Black, I was forced to change all the color. At the time I thought Epson did not provide completely filled color ink cartridges.

Just yesterday, I replaced Black and the printer complained it did not recognize the rest of color cartridges. So I replaced all the other color ink cartridges and now it works fine.

You might want to check out www.clickinks.com for cheaper, mail order alternatives which are Epson ink compatible, if you are not in a hurry.
