Battery Light Flashes Orange and Green

My battery light is flashing orange (4 times) then green (1 time). The laptop will run on either ac or battery power. When I unplug the laptop, it says I have full power on my battery (ie 4hours) but the light won't stop flashing in this sequence. My dell inspiron 6000 has the battery (I think) light - it has a lightning bolt thingy flashing 4 orange and 1 green, the symbol to the left of itis also flashing orange. I have it on ac power but lights are driving me nuts? Do I need a new battery?

I have had three different laptops, last one an XPS from DELL which did the same thing. Replacing the battery solved all three laptops. How old is the battery you have in there now?

This means something's wrong with your battery. Usually it means you need a new battery.
How long does the battery last, if you use the laptop without the AC adapter?

No power battery flashes 4 orange

If it is orange or is blinking orange, the battery charge is low or expended. Remove the battery and re-install it. Plug in the AC adapter and connect it to an outlet. Turn on the computer.

When the battery status light blinks green and orange, the battery temperature is too hot for charging. Shut down the laptop, detach the AC adapter, and allow the laptop and battery to return to room temperature before attempting to charge the battery.

If the battery status light blinks orange rapidly, the battery itself may be defective.

The printer flashes orange light five times, and green once

Probably your waste ink counter. Should be cleaned or replaced before resetting but usually you can get away with resetting once.
1. Start with printer OFF
2. Hold down RESUME and then hold down POWER
3. Release RESUME
4. press RESUME twice, then release POWER
5. let green light blink until printhead has finished moving.
6. Select functions below with RESUME, execute with POWER

0 presses - green light - Test Print (exit service for i960)
1 press - orange light - EEPROM info print
2 presses - green light - EEPROM initialise
3 presses - orange light - reset waste ink counter.

This also applies to the i550, i560, i950, i960

My battery light flashes green and orange whether its charging or unplugged? is there a problem?

Flashing green and orange: battery is too hot to charge

if it flashes orange 4 times it means a defective battery

check the system setup (usually by hitting something like F2 or DEL when the laptop first powers on). there should be an option in there to "re-learn or "refresh" the battery. it will send it through a few charge/discharge cycles and then if the battery isn't toast it should work thereafter

Battery light flashes 4times orange then 1green

We had the same problem. I figured out it was NOT the main battery, but the auxilary battery. The batter life WITH the auxiliary was 68% total, when I removed the 2nd battery the battery life shot back up to 98% AND the flashing orange / red lights were gone (both on the power source and off). I then replaced the auxiliary battery with a spar back up to make SURE that it was not a fluke and with the new backup battery firmly in place the lights still did not flash. Problem solved.

BATTERY LIGHT FLASHES ORANGE

hi,
if you have tried both batteries with the same laptop and they are giving you the same error code, then it could very well be a motherboard problem, both the batteries cannot be bad, what you can do is try these batteries on some other compatible laptop model to check if they work fine there. Also try swapping the AC adapter as in both case you might be using the same Ac adapter, try using some other good known AC adapter as well.

Latitude d505 not charging

If the system runs using the AC adapter, but the battery doesn't hold a charge and the battery indicator LED flashes orange, then replace the battery (A battery with an internal failure may flash 4 times orange then once green and repeat)

The normal lifespan of a PC battery is 300 to 500 recharge/discharge cycles (roughly 12 to 18 months)

Battery Light Flashes Orange and Green

The LED sequence indicates a failure in the battery. (Like one cell has low charge) As long as the overall battery output meets the minimum for system operation, the battery will work.

The average lifespan for a Portable battery is about 500 discharge/recharge cycles (1 to 2 years) anything after that is a bonus

Replace the battery, issue will go away
