AC is spitting out water inside. Where are the drain plugs?

I have an LG window unit. (model # LWHD8000RY6) It's about 3yrs old. A few days ago it started making a rattleing noise and when I took a closer look I noticed water on the inside vents. I took the rubber plug out of the back (outside). I was told that it's probably not draining correctly and to unclog the drain plugs. Where are these drain plugs that I need to unclog? The only one I know of is the one on the back. I would appreciate any help you can give me. Its getting hot in North Alabama. Thank you!

I have the same AC and had this problem. Sludge builds up inside the bottom of the unit from dust and water build up causing it not to drain and the fan spits the water out. Its a fairly simple fix with a philips screw driver and a wet vac. Unplug the AC first. Remove the AC from the window. Remove the screw inside the front panel below the filter screen. Then you can pop the whole front panel off by pulling it with a little pressure. Now you need to remove the 3 screws holding each of the slider panels onto the side of the AC. Then remove the 3 screws on the bottom of the left and bottom of the right side of the AC. Remove the 3 screws holding the bar on top of the AC. Lastly remove the 2 screws on the back of the AC in the bottom Left and Right corners. You can now pull the top cover off. You can now use your wet vac to vacuum out the sludge that is in the bottom of the AC from the right and left side. There's a ground wire that connects from the fan motor to the bottom plate of the AC, be careful not to hit it. I knocked mine off possibly to it having been rusting in the backed up sludge and had to strip the wire and reconnect it.

Realize this post is 2 years old, but if anyone can state where the drain hole is or if there is one for the plastic drip tray under the cooling fins? That can be accessed from the front of the unit after taking off the front plastic cover and filter. Or a link to a blow-up schematic drawing showing where the drain hole is on the plastic drip tray? I couldn't visually see one on my Mod.# LWHD1009R-LG. Would be helpful and appreciated.

Sometimes they are located on the bottom near the condenser coil. Check there and make sure the unit is tilted down a slight bit to allow for proper drainage.

My LG portable ac unit spits water into the room why

Check for proper condensate drainage. Make sure the drain pan and drain tube isn't clogged with debris and check for mold inside the unit. Check that the blower wheel is clean as well.

Portable ac Danby Premiere DPA110CB5BP spitting water while it fans.

If you are referring to the unit doing this on the outside of the structure, this is normal. the "Hamster Wheel" is designed to carry a small amount of water and create a light amount of water to go onto the condenser to help with the evaporation and cooling process. If this is on the inside of the structure, the unit may not be level or another issue causing improper drainage.

Lg lp1213gxr spitting water how can I fix

Check the AC units condensation drain, it is likely plugged. When an AC is running it dehumidifies the air as it passes through the evaporator core, this creates a lot of liquid water, it must be drained off.

Hey there. I bought the same AC unit and was experiencing the same issue. Wouldn't drain, etc...
I'm happy/embarrassed to mention that there is a rubber grommet inside the drain plug that I did not see before. It looks like it's part of the plastic drain, but it's a rubber cap. So when you unscrew the plastic cap, there is another rubber plug you have to pull out.
Doh!
Hope this helps.

Window air conditioner is spitting water

Hello, usually a window AC will spit water if the unit is not tilted back or if the drain is backed up, if the unit is level try tilting it back it the window somewhat. Also, if the unit does have a drain make sure it is not blocked.

Making a noise and spitting water inside

your ac unit may not be installed properly, it needs a 1/4 inch tilt to allow water to drain properly outside. Also make sure your drain plug is open to allow the water to drain out.
