SOURCE: Overheating Hoover
Most likely caused by a lack of airflow. Check to see if you have airflow at the end of the hose. If not, Remove all of the hoses and ensure that they are not clogged. If there is airflow through the hose; check the air inlet immediately aft of the brushroll, inside the nozzle. This is a very common place for clogs to form.
Also note: contrary to some manufacturers claims, you can not clean (or wash, for that matter;) a hepa filter. The small particles are too embedded in the filter media to ever get completely removed, and the act of cleaning tends to damage the filters, even if you can't see the damage. This is why bagless life-spans, on average, are half the length of the life-spans of bagged vacuums.
Good luck,

SOURCE: hoover eite rewind vacuum has blocked airflow, how do i fix?
i had the same issue, but with a little time and a screwdriver, i got my vacuum working like new.
First, remove the bottom cover where the brush is located. Once the cover is off you'll see the vacuum inlet hose just behind the brush. Clear out any debris you find in there.
Second, on the back of the unit, where the attachment hose connects to the vacuum remove the three screws and clean out any debris you see in there. (dont be afraid to get your hands dirty)
hope this helps!

SOURCE: Automatic Cord Rewinder is not rewinding anymore
I had the same problem - the power cord for my Hoover Elite Upright (U5507900) was stuck a few inches out and wouldn't go any further. But when I unscrewed the rewinding mechanism, the cord had clearly gotten twisted and partly buried under itself so after some work I was able to free it. Now it seems to be working fine, at least for the moment. Note that I had to use small screwdrivers to unscrew the cord rewinding compartment, like the kind of screwdrivers you use for computer repair.
HTH!
SOURCE: My hoover elite rewind is making a louder noise
the smell is either the motor or the belt, if motor hope it is under warranty, if belt make sure brush roll spins freely and replace belt, if brush roll not spin freely replace it first
