SOURCE: WONT TURN ON

Most likely, the problem is a defective Main Processor Board. This is the board with the antenna, RCA and HDMI plugs. You cant repair or replace component parts on this board, so dont even try. You must replace the complete board. The TV says Sylvania, but it is a bloody Funia TV. Several years ago this foreign company bought out broke-azzz Sylvania . They are still carrying the Sylvania name since Sylvania was a popular TV name in the 70s. Every electronic company in the USA is now owned by the Chinese, so call Funai and order the part from them. Dont be surprise if they dont have a clue what the heck you asking for. America and all electronics have gone to the puddles. Do you know why? GREED.

SOURCE: The tv will not turn on with either the remote or

Hi, I own the same TV and had the same problem. It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TV made by Funai corp. Emerson is made by them. Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board.

The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can'tactually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom. I'm willing to bet you have the same problem like mine. One of six Inverter Transformers when bad on my Power/Backlight Inverter Supply Board. I replaced it and it works fine again.

You have a few choices:

1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.

2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.

3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual at Tvtechcenter.com; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $6. And most cases the new part cost less than $15. The service manual at the site is under LC320EM82S.

4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.

SOURCE: TV will not turn on. Red flashing light, nothing

Hi.
This sounds like you are experiencing the same thing as thousands of other tv owners right now.
Your tv is suffering from " capacitor flu".

The capacitors that control voltage regulation, convergence, or the ones on the main board have failed.

This is not due to anything that you have done, it is because about 15 years ago, some companies chose to put profit ahead of quality.
There were about 20 electronic component manufacturers in the mid-1990's that mass manufactured capacitors, and they were done so with the wrong formula for capacitance gel. They used a formula which was later determined to be harmful to the capacitors, but instead of pulling those off of the market, they ignored the massive failures and left then out there on the market anyways.

All together, the companies made a combined 50,000,000 capacitors that were junk, and instead of lasting the 25-30 year design like they were supposed to, some of them are only lasting a few months to a few years, at best.

Now, that isn't to say that this means that your tv should be tossed in the trash, but if you take it to get it repaired at places like BestBuy, Fry's, or Staple's...you will want to get an estimate of repair costs before actually having it done.

The reason for this is because to get the proper capacitors put in your tv is a time consuming, and expensive repair.
You may find that the cost of repair is more expensive than the cost of replacing the tv, or you may find that it reasonably priced to get the repair.

That is why I recommend getting an estimate first.

This way, you will know ahead of time which way is the most economically feasible venture for you.

I hope this helps you understand what is going on with your tv, and that it gives you some insight as to how to remedy the situation.

Good luck to you, and have a good day.

I have a 51inch LG TV and never had a problem I turned it off as normal and then tried to turn it on a while later and nothing I only got a red solid stand-by light it don't flash when press side buttons...

Try following the steps below.
Step 1
Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.

Step 2
Observe the Standby light if the remote control will not work. If the Standby light stays on, the television is in Standby mode. Press the power button on the television, then try to use the remote.

Step 3
Turn the Energy Saving Switch off, then press the power button. The Energy Saving Switch is located on the rear or side panel on most Sony model TVs. Refer to your TV user manual for the exact location of the switch.

The red standby is on because the tV is not turned on. Once you turn the power ON the red led will go out and possibly another color will come on.

Here's an excerpt from the Sony Manual online. And the link - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/webtree.pl?template=EN&mdl=KDF55XS955&content_id=68&category_id=11&problem_id=52

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.
