The freezer section of our side by side is not working. The fridge is working fine, the lights come on in the freezer, and we have reset by turning off for 30seconds. Any suggestions?

Actually has turned out to be both the fridge and freezer section that has blown - (lights + fan seem to go but no cooling). When I phoned the manufacturer they said it could be anything and that we would need an engineer. Since it is just over a year old (20days) we have to pay a whopping £120 for the call plus whatever parts are required! Needless to say I am pretty disappointed with Admiral/Maytag.

An engineer came round yesterday, and it turns out that as we open the doors, the fridge lights turn on, and shorts the compressor. Resolution is replace theswitches.

    Thanks for all your input.

    Hi,
My Admiral has stopped working intermittently for the last few weeks ie it stops for about 24 hours everything defrosts and gets ruined than it just starts again for a week or so and the same thing happens. We got someone out last week, they replaced the control board and charged £150. The next day the fridge went off again and has not come back on. The old board was jazz9 and the new one jazz10.
    Any help would be appreciated

Does freezer cool like the cold food section? Did this suddenly happen, and frozen food began to thaw?  Most freezers control the cooling in the cold food section. The freezer must work fine before the cold food section will work fine. Let us know more, Thanks JT

I'm on my way to work as I multi task and will be available again but continue to ask others technicians here while you are there today we do want to help! If compressor is running try to turn defrost control to right in cold food section and listen for the compressor to stop that will indicate defrost timer fault and then need replaced Let us know sorry I have to go for a while and we are all wanting to help you solve this. OK, I'm back and just finished some research. The Refrigerator has a temp control circuit board. It's a GE Refrigerator and the control board list price here in the USA for $66.53 Now The web site has listed numbers wrong above other peoples names like yours showing so many different name/brands and model numbers. I hope yours is correct as not to anger you or make things difficult. So are we are sure your refrigerator is a part# GC2224GEKB ? Because that is listed as a GE part. The circuit board replacement for this( if correct) is WR5510172. Now not to confuse you Admiral may use the same part number..Hope this helps you and makes things go a little easier for you. Let me know as soon as possible if we are on the wrong track, Thanks Sea Breeze

I have an admiral gc2224gekb side by side. The ice machine isn't producing ice and also the fridge is freezing up

First, check to see if the airflow is blocked at the back of the fridge compartment as this also may cause the lower items to freeze. Fridge freezing is usually the malfunction of the damper swing door or the circuit controlling it. A failure of the temperature sensor in the fridge could be the cause. We just had ours replaced this year [on extended warranty]

What bulb do i need for my Admiral fridge freezer model GC2224GEKB?

That sounds like you have a 240 vac light bulb and 240 voltage home service, so you are possibly outside the USA correct? The fresh food compartment calls for two bulbs model=> 67002552 40w-250v Light Bulb

You may also get these from=> Repair Clinic
sea_breeze_97.jpg
The freezer compartment also uses one of the same bulbs=> OEM # 67002552
If you should have any questions please let me know and please rate my solution, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Hi i have a fridge freezer model no GC2224GEKB,i have noticed that the refrigeration side has started to freeze even though i have it set to 3oc.

I just answered the same question so I've copied you into it hope you don't mind.
A common problem to this is the damper (vent from freezer) is bad or just stuck open, try defrosting it and adjusting the position so that you reduce the amount of cold air going into the fridge, hopefully it'll just be stuck in the open position and you well have no further problems. Always here to help.. Richard.

I have an admiral GC2224GEKB

You may have to open the door to let the dispenser thaw since it's in the door.
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Admiral side by side

All the cold air from your freezer gets pushed into the fridge with a fan in your freezer section. So your problem is from the fact that this cold air isn't get to your fridge.
- the door that allows this cold air into the fridge, normally in the top left corner of the fridge, is stuck shut and needs replacement.
-the freezer isn't defrosting and restricting the air flow
-the temp controller for the fridge is damaged and thinks that the fridge is cold enough.
