I have 2 remotes for my 2007 Honda CRV, 2 that unlocks the doors and 2 with a button you push to start the vehicle. One of the starter units won't work. I took it apart to see what kind of battery it used which was 2 of the CR1229. Can I buy and install the batteries or do I need go back to the shop that originally installed the remote to have them replace and reprogram?

Typically a car remote does not have to be reprogrammed to replace the battery. Check the car's owners manual to verify the battery is a CR1229. I don't know of any 1229 number but I do know a CR1220. Verify the number and you can buy them at just about any store...from Walmart on.

SOURCE: REMOTE STARTER NOT WORKING COMPLETELY

Here is page 2 of the owners manual, Hope it helps.

This will not start the vehicle if any one of the following situations exists;
The vehicle's hood lid is opened.
The gear shift selector is not in Park.
The brake pedal is depressed.
The safety control switch is in the Off position.

1. To start the vehicle, press and release the transmitter button two times within 2
seconds. The vehicle will start and remain running for the pre-programmed 5,10,15,20 minute run cycle. As a visual indication, the parking lights will flash or remain on depending on the setting by your installation center.

2. When you arrive at the vehicle, turn the ignition key to the ON position (not the spring loaded start position), then step on the brake pedal to disengage the remote starter. The
vehicle will continue to run, but now on it's own power.
NOTE: The engine will stop running before the pre-programmed run cycle has expired if you perform any one of the following functions;
-Press and the button on the keychain transmitter two times within 2 seconds.
-Depress the brake pedal.
-Open the vehicle's hood
-Place the unit in the safety control disabled mode.
PRLED SAFETY CONTROL SWITCH

The Push-Button LED control switch allows you to temporarily disable the remote starting function of the system. This recommended whenever the vehicle is being serviced. To place the system in the service mode:

1) With the system disarmed/unlocked, and the ignition switch off Press and Hold the PRLED on.
2) Turn the ignition switch on, off, on, off, on, off.
3) The LED begins to flash two short flashes followed by one long flashes and continues this pattern until returned to normal mode of operation. This puts the unit into the R/S Override mode indicating that the remote start is in the service mode and will not start from RF or any other input Posse or otherwise.
To Exit R/S Override Mode
1) With the system disarmed, Press and Hold the PRLED on.
2) Turn the ignition switch on, off, on, off, on, off.
3) The LED turns off indicating that the R/S unit is fully functional one again

Alarm keeps turning on when I turn on my car starter

Okay, the Avital 4111 is a one button remote starter. So, it has no way of locking your car doors except if wired to lock after start or, after shut down. In the 2010 CRV, the unit should have been wired to disarm the alarm before start(brown wire in kick panel) and to unlock doors when running (grey wire in kick panel in same harness as disarm) with the press and release of the remote starter remote. If the unit is not working in cold weather it may be due to the installer using a valet key instead of a bypass and/or the unit may be programmed for virtual tachometer or voltage instead of having a true tachometer wire connected.

I installed a bulldog remote starter with keyless entry and the doors won't unlock or lock with remote, why?

Were the lock and unlock wires connected to the system?
Lock: Gray/White (-) @ 40 PIN CONN OF BCM PIN 27
Unlock: Gray/Red (-) @ 40 PIN CONN OF BCM PIN 26

Do you have a Smartpass key or a regular key? What bypass are you using for the remote start system?

Remote start work but door will not unlock or lock!

Do the doors unlock when the remote starter is not running? If so, then you to connect to a different set of door lock wires.I usually connect to the factory alarm and disarm wires in the driver kick panel. They are blue for arm and pink for disarm. You test them by turning the key in the drivers door.

I haven't driven my 2000 Honda CRV in about a week. When I tried to unlock it this morning neither of the remotes would work. I can get into the car manually unlocking the doors but the engine won't...

It sound like the keyfob remotes turn your alarm off on the vehicle. The starter disable part of the alarm is preventing you from starting your car. You will have to get your remotes fixed. Might just need batteries...

How do auto remote car starters work?

Usually the car start system has a "Valet" switch hidden somewhere under the dash or in the glove box. This is used to disarm the system for when the vehicle is serviced. You will have to locate and turn the switch on, some units have a small push button. In either case it is a good dea to locate it for future use.
