I have the message waste motor error how can i fix it?
The wate motor transfers (you guess it) waste toner to the waste toner bottle. If the bottle fills up, the motor cannot transfer more waste to it. This is rare, for the printer should ask for a new waste toner bottle when the previous one fills. However,it happens frequently when users try to empty and clean the bottle instead of replacing it.
If a new waste toner bottle is in place, then the printer needs a new motor, which can only be purchased through an Authorized Service Center.
Two different things here.
FIRST
Waste Toner Tank Full/Not Installed message
Normally this just means what it says.
The waste toner tank can be emptied and re-used, but often the 'sight window' used by the sensor to detect the waste toner level stays dirty and the sensor still can't 'see' that it is empty.
The sensor can fail and give this message even with a new waste toner tank.
SECOND
Continuing to use the printer with a full waste toner tank will have the waste toner 'backup' in the wase toner augers. This causes the waste toner motor to stall, or draw excessive current.
The cure often requires a new waste toner motor assembly.
As the service manual states
"Replace the waste toner tank immediately or the printer may be damaged"
The waste toner motor error can also happen after a transfer belt splits dumping toner everywhere inside the printer. Transfer belt splits usually happen after the Transfer unit continues to be used well beyond its rated 50,000 image life (NOT a good idea to reset the counter on this item). Later CLP-510 printers would not permit the resetting of the Transfer Unit counter in order to try to prevent this happening.

This error is caused by the Waste Toner Motor 'stalling' - usually as a result of the Waste Toner Full message being ignored for too long, and the waste system becomming overful.
Usually best to replace the Waste Toner Motor assembly.
They are for sale on auction websites from time to time.

Had same error message. Must admit it was preceded by the Replace Waster Toner Bottle message (MORE CONSUMABLES, MORE COST!) which was displayed for couple weeks intermittently then stayed on permanently. I didnt get round to changing it and found I could continue to print by removing it altogether, but then got the Waste Motor Error message. My own fault, but you need it when you need it and you dont know using it will cause a problem. Call out from Samsung (£185) nearly as much as what I paid for it Jan-06.
