I have tried to reset to factory settings, and have updated the software for it. It still won't play the BluRay DVD's.
Try VLC or Macgo, Macgo has promotion these days.
I had a similar issue. Try resetting your resolution. By default it should be at the highest level. I reset mine to 1080i and now the BluRays will play.
My TV is a few years old, I think it was bogging down because it was getting too much information from the player, but that's just a guess.

I called Samsung with the same issue. After verifying the latest firmware was installed, they suggested I send the unit in for service. I expect it back sometime this week, and DVD playback will be the first thing I test.

I have the same problem, and the Blu ray disc is playing fine in another Blu ray player: Sony.

I had this problem after the Decembe 2010 firmware upgrade. Today I went to the samsung website and downloaded the RUF file for USB. You must also downloand the instructions for installing the upgrade again. It will probably take 2 installs. Now all works great. Problem solved/.

Providing that you have a legal DVD player that is meant to play discs in this country and that you have bought a legal disc (not an illegal bootleg copy) you might need to do a firmware update on player.
If player has internet connectivity you can do it directly on player - it should be a menu prompt to update firmware
if no internet connection is available on player you will need to contact Samsung and have them send firmware update to you on a disc and load it that way
If either disc or player is a bootleg or grey/black market purchase than that is the issue
Players will only play discs from the region they were made to work in
USA is region 1
good luck
