It sounds to be a firmware trouble. Will be best to contact the authorized service center for Sony, rather than trying to do it by yourself, as it is a very skilled work, need both concentration and previous experience. google.com/+GopakumarGopalan
I have a 2008 Sony Bravia KDL-46W4100 that when I turn it on the red light blinks 14 times. Please help me troubleshoot this problem so I can order the correct part to fix this television
Without a proper troubleshoot the answer i can give you is only a guess based on what i have seen come through our shop, but it sounds like one of the backlights are not lighting up all the time. If one of the backlights fail the set will go into shutdown, if you count the blinks from the power light this will give you an error number that will tell you exactly what the problem is. But the symptom is one i see when the backlights (ccfl) are beginning to fail. The repair would be to replace the display panel. But a proper diagnostic is important.
If the line is present in all inputs and modes, there is a problem with the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel which is very expensive (usually around $1000+ for 40" Sony). Unless the TV in under warranty, it is usually around the same price for a new TV.
