Shows to connect to itunes on the screen

The ipod should let you do a restore in itunes with the computer that last synced the ipod. This is the only way to remove the passcode.

If it wont simply show up on the computer, plug the ipod in, hold the power button and then slide to power off. Press the power button, as soon as the apple logo appears press and hold both the top power button and the home button together until the orange triangle appears. This should put the iPhone into restore mode, open itunes and restore.

Won't recognize ipod touch but shows under my drives

put it in DFU mode while connected to the computer. to do this, hold the home and power buttons for 10 seconds and then let go of the power but keep on holding the home for 10 secs. the screen will be black and nothing will show up. go to itunes and click on your ipod on the left. then click restore. this should work.

Have you changed the power cable? most likely faulty power cable. but if that doesnt fix it your ipod has an internal problem and needs to be sent in for repair I had same problem but new cable fixed it.
