Can I repair the broken starter rope on Stihl FS 45 trimmer

If you're pretty handy, you should be able to do this yourself. Once you get the housing off the motor, you may be able to dig the broken end of the rope out of the pulley and wind the spring back up with it, then feed it out the hole. At that point, you could jam the pulley with wooden wedges or something, disconnect the rope from the pulley, and feed in a new rope.

Mac 3200 chain saw clutch replacement

Pull out the spark plug and stuff some rope in the cylinder. This will stop the piston from moving allowing the nut to be loosened. Now you can remove and replace the clutch assembly. Use rope that is not going to shed particals inside the cylinder.

Broken Cub Cadet

I dont own one or there but it is an easy repair. Find a wrench/socket that will fit the 3 or 4 bolts holding down the pull cord (recoil) cover and remove them and the cover. (Prob. a 10 mm socket) Then wrap a cord/narrow rope CLOCKWISE around the pulley 3-5 times and prepare mower to start as you normally would and pull the rope. Now you can cut your grass before it becomes unmanageable. Take the recoil to any small engine repair shop and have them replace the rope and then you can reinstall the recoil. In my area the charge $7-$10 for this.

How long should your jump rope be for exercising?

If you are 6 feet or shorter, than the rope should be 9 feet long. This is the standard jump rope size found in stores. If you are over 6 feet then you'll need a 10 foot rope. Generally, when you hold the rope and stand on the middle with your feet, each end should reach your arm pit.

How much does a jump rope cost?

Jump ropesnormally cost between $10-$20 depending mainly on the brand. In a few cases,(like with the Everlast jump rope), materials play a role in the price as well. For example, the Everlast jump rope is made of leather (more expensive thanrubber).

Gx160 pull cord rope broken

1. Buy a starter repair kit or get five feet of nylon rope similar to what was in the starter from a Lowe's, The Home Depot or the like.
2. Remove the three bolts holding the starter on the motor and remove any remaining rope on the pulley.
3. Line the hole in the pulley up with the hole in the starter housing and thread the rope through both.
4. Tie a tight knot in the end of the rope and cut the tail off so it won't interfere with motor but not so short the knot comes undone.
5. Thread the other end of the rope through the t-handle and tie a knot in the very end so the handle won't come off and the rope won't be pulled into the starter during the next part.
6. Pull the rope up between the starter housing and pulley and get the rope into the notch in the pulley. Turn the pulley clockwise with the rope in the notch to put tention on the spring. Give it four turns.
7. When the notch gets back to the hole in the housing, hold the pulley and pull the rope back into place from outside the housing.
8. Let the pulley turn slowly so it retracts the rope.
9. You want four windings on the pulley and the t-handle to be held against the housing. If you don't get four windings on the pulley, give the pulley another tension turn (Step 6). If you have four windings and the t-handle isn't held against the housing or you get more that four windings, shorten the rope at the t-handle.
10. Reinstall the starter and you will be back in business.

I would like to replace the chord that pulls the mantis tiller to start it. I want to know how to reassemble the starting unit.

Since you can remove the starter by removing four screws, I would suggest that you take it to a dealer for repair. As long as the pulley or the spring is not damaged, the repair is very simple and most likely they can do it while you wait. If you are a good customer or if you purchased the unit from them they will likely charge you about $10 and they might even let you watch so you will know what to do next time.

In the future for this and any other engine with a recoil starter, you should make sure you are pulling the rope at the proper angle so that it is not rubbing the exit grommet on the starter too severely. If you see that round guide wearing a groove in it, you are not pulling the rope correctly. If ropes are failing too frequently, then there might be a rough or sharp edge that needs to be corrected. Another benefit of letting an experience dealer look at the problem.

To prolong the life of the rope, start with a quality nylon rope. Occasionally extend the rope the full length and rub the rope with a candle or a block of paraffin. This will reduce the friction anywhere the rope rubs. And finally if your machine is taking more than 5 pulls to start, this is the time to have it checked and tuned up.

Starter rope will not retract.

inside the rope pull housing is a flat spring,it may have come loose from its anchor, its an easy fix...unscrew the 3 screws on housing, lift off housing, and the rope pull is inside the casing, you will then see if its broken, or just come off anchor, 10 minute job if its just loose......
