SOURCE: Need to know how to install a flyback in 2004 52 in RCA tv.
First and foremost, disconnect the power cord from the mains.
Next, after having removed the back cover from the set, discharge the tubes' residual high-voltage to ground using a suitable tool.
Access to the transformer is pretty much staightforward here.
A few hardware removals and you can then get to the board and transformer..
Mark, then remove all leads that go to the unit.
INstallation is the reverse of removal.
Be sure to replace the driver device, just to be certain...accordianman
SOURCE: rca tv wont come on at all
there is an inherant problem with rca tv's
they are not vented properly as far as im concerned
right in front of the fly back is a small part in mine it is grey i think it's a resister
when i took the back off i saw that it was sparking on 1 end ( wholy chit ) scared the **** out of me
if your chip is sparking try this fix if not turning on or no pic look inside and look for burns vthere a tell tale sign of over heating
what i did was crazzy but it worked
i took the stupid chip off by pulling on it what the puck it was screwed any how
then took it to my local electronics store they tested it and told me it was fine just had to but a new 1 since i broke a pin on 1 end
nothing grinding down ends of the case and adding some wire to the pins so i had somthing to solder to
the i re soldered the thing back to the board dam thing was trickey but as long as you are smart and gentl and for god sake un plug the set there is 600 volts inside if not more that can kill you near this chip
it now works fine my 52 inch tv has cost me $7.00 in gas and about 3 hours of time
what i noticed was that the chip over heated at the solder joint and burnt the hole bigger so i soldered and wired to the next conection and re soldered it carefully i did not remove or un plug any thing i just remeoved the board from it's slide mount and carrefully tiped t of only poping 2 conections witch were easy 2 put back on the tv is great it just hates running for 6 monthes at a time hell you shut off your $500.00 computer every once and a while dont you ???
then why would you not shut off your 2000 dollar tv every day
well hope this helps all or at least some of us who cant afford a high priced repair person to show up and tell us it will be 3-400 to fix but they will give us 50.00 for the old chasie and fix it and re sell it for 500 in a refurb tv store like factory direct in canada

You have a bad flyback transformer. This is a common problem that eventually goes bad in the ITC 222 chassis. You have to get the model number with the code at the end of it after the /. And sometimes you must have the numbers from off the flyback itself. Try to contact MCM electronics for the flyback at 1-800-543-4330. First see if they can match it with the model number with the code after the /.
