My email address changed. Tried to change it on Facebook but it wouldn't let me so I added the new email address and tried to make it primary but still wouldn't let me. Now I have both addresses in my settings but primary is still the old address. I thought if I deactivated the account I could change it. Now I can't get into my Facebook account because the email isn't a good one and I can't use my new address because it is associated with the old account. Help!

1. Open your Facebook "Settings"-you get there by going to the top right and clicking the upside down pyramid and then selecting Settings from the new drop down list of settings.
2.Select Email from the list of options that appear under the General Account Settings and select "edit".
3.Click "Add another email address" and put the new email address that you want to use.
4. You will need to add your Facebook Password to save the new Email address, type it in the area below and click the "Save Changes button. Click OK on the new confirm window that appears.
5.Go to the e-mail address that you just added and Verify the email that Facebook will send to your email account.
6.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" and select the new Email address that you just added as the primary email for your Facebook account. You will need to supply your Facebook Password again and click "Save Changes" again.
7.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" again and find the old email account that you no longer want/use and select the "Remove" beside it and click it. You will need to supply your Facebook Password again and click "Save Changes" again.
8.Go back to your Facebook "Settings/Email" and you will see that the only Email address is the new one that you added in step #3.

Making the Change

How do I add or remove an email address from my account

I'm assuming you're at least at this page... https://register.facebook.com/editaccoun…
... and that you have at least two email addresses added.

(You get to this page by going to "Settings - Account Settings.")

If you don't have more than one, click Email Change and then fill out the box to Add New Email. Then, it should show up above that in the Contact Email list. Click the radio button beside the email you want to now set as your primary. You can choose to get rid of the other email accounts by clicking the Remove button, but I would suggest waiting to do that. I can't remember if Facebook sends you a warning email or not.
