The problem is sort of complex. This could be the main power supply, or the high voltage supply. There is also a chance there is a short on one of the boards and the main supply is tripping to protection.
This is not something you can fix at home. In consideration of the service cost, and most likely the circuit boards and many of the parts will no longer be available, you should consider a new set!
6 times is the lamp thermal fuse or lamp. its a thermal that sits on the bottom of the lamp area.
remove the fan and you will see the siler disk with black base cut the wires and slide the new one in on the side secure it on the old thermal and your fixed.
the blinking light signifies to a repair technician with capacitors or
circuits are having an issue they can diagnose the problem via the
amount of blinks in between pauses however it will require a technician
and some specific tools and schematics to fix and it may be cheaper if
its no longer under warranty to purchase a new one
If it is Sony KDF-E55A20 TV then replace its lamp as symptoms shows lamp is broken/ dead. lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and let me know if you have nay further question. Thanks.
When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.
Sorry, I have to say it. If the bulb (LED) is shot it would have to be zero flashes :-) It's my weird sense of humour.
