Turned out ticking noise was harmonic vibration triggered by a nearby airconditioning compressor. Once I guessed the cause, putting a rubber pad under the monitor to dampen the vibrations eliminated the ticking. Removing the pad caused the ticking to reoccur. Ditto with turning the A/C off or on. Weird!

A loud ticking noise?

No I would not chase to the pistons, these vehicle were very comon in creating HLA noise hydraulic lash adjusting valves, meaning the valves pump up with oil as the oil gets thinner they dont pump up as fast and create a very loud ticking noise, I would not express a great concern over simplicity, dodge was famous for this, they really were.

Mower will not start. Makes a loud fast clicking noise when the key is turned.

Loud ticking usually indicates near dead battery, take it out and charge it. If it still ticks you may need to replace it as they are only good for a few years.

Dead samsung 172n power light flickers

Have you checked the power output from the power board? Is it constant and steady? Try reflowing all the joints if you haven't already. Especially transformer and coil joints. Maybe a bad logic board? Do you have spares to try? Does it do this with everything disconnected from the pwr board (switch, logic, inverter)?
