Have u used this printer quite a bit....? if so the following may be the problem and I just did run across this recently in a printer we had in the shop....I recently read in one of my technical magazines that there may be a design flaw in the placement of the laser scanners and the openings that protect them....it seems that excess toner dust can readily get in to scanner area and specifically inside the scanner assembly and accumalate on the scanner glass and lens. Just cleaning through the opening in the back of the printer will not eliminate the issue. Machine will have to be disassembled, scanner removed and opened and the glass/lens cleaned with a q-tip....the placement of the fan (behind cartridges, lower right) seems to speed this process up and it usually becomes first notable with the magenta cartridge, seeing as it is at the bottom of the printer closest to the fan. Hope this helps..

When i print toner status black color is faded as well as yellow and cyan, magenta showing white color, can you please give the best solution for this. by the way i am using hp 2600n. thank you very much.

First, make sure that the toner cartridges have enough toner. The toners may be exhausted. In case the toners are ok, the printer requires servicing/ cleaning of lenses and mirrors inside the printer.
Please refer here to my earlier solution to this problem, which was very helpful for the users of Color LaserJet 2600n Printer.

GoodLuck!
Dont forget to appreciate the solutions if I could have been of any help!

The color red is dull when printing

I assume you've checked magenta toner cartridge level, and tried cleaning.
If so, the next thing to do is try cleaning the scanner mirror. On these models the mirror nearest the magenta toner builds up dust the most quickly, hence why it is the first colour to fade on prints. Only use dry swabs (no solvents) and compressed clean air on the mirrors.

The Magenta colour on my 2605dn is no longer coming out properly (very faint). The cartridge was replaced by made no difference. All other cartridge colours work fine. Tried cleaning and calibrating but...

A faded magenta on this model is probably a dirty scanner mirror.
The printer design puts a fan in an area that blows magenta toner directly at the laser scanner.
The more toner on the mirror, the more faded the print.
You will need to remove the scanner and clean it.

MY HP ''COLOR LASER JET 2600n'' HAS FUOLL INK CARTRIDGES BUT THE PRINTING IS REALLY DULL AND FADED LOOKING. CAN ANYONE HELP? TERRY M.

This is a common problem with this model of printer. The scanner optic degenration is due to dust buildup on mirrors and lenses. Since the most vulnerable mirror reflects its laser beam to the magenta toner cartridge, red tones are the first to show fading. Colours shift: purples turn blue and oranges turn yellow. The printer will need to be cleaned by a certified HP technician to resolve this issue as it means dismantling your printer to fix the problem.

This printer has stopped printing reds and oranges correctly ? they are faded. Changed the toners & no difference

Print a "Config Report" from the printers menu...If u notice that the fourth square on the left side (fourth being the bottom square) for Magenta (reds and orange) is missing or very faded, this could indicate that the optical mirrors inside the printer have to be cleaned...Design flaw. ESP..if changing toners doesn't work and your your faded issue is with Magenta (Pink, red, or orange) colours are the only faded ones...With this design flaw in the optical mirrors, magenta mirror is the first to be affected!
Hope this helps!!!! I work in the industry :)

Red colour fades on both left and right sides of the page. Other colours print fine.

It's probably a dirty laser scanner. The magenta is most pron to this type of problem. Here's a link for instructions. http://forums11.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/getattachment.do?attachmentId=297096&ext=.pdf
