Yes. you can replace the charger. and if it soesnt work still, you can get a new rechargable battery just like the one your ds came with for<$10 online or at re-play.

If its the charger that is it probably the charger its the battery. And a universal charger would work but try not to buy it off line if you can.

it sounds like it's a battery problem.

If you want to replace your battery, call Nintendo's Consumer Assistance Hotline at 1-800-255-3700 from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Pacific Time, and order a replacement battery there. I believe it costs around US$15.00.
If you still need assistance I would suggest you check our online troubleshooting here. Depending on the specifics of your situation, the problem may be the DS Lite, the battery, or the AC adapter.
PCHELPSTER007 from youtube
p.s. Before doing this you could maybe try using a different charger

The red LED indicates low power. When the DS is charging an orange LED should be on and the DS can be switched on, giving a second green light. If you tried charging it but the orange LED did not come on or only came on for a few seconds then the battery has not charged. The charger may be faulty or the power connector on the DS may be faulty. You need to try another charger. If another charger does not work then the DS is faulty and needs repair. It could be the power connector or the battery or some other fault inside.
If the amber LED comes on to indicate that the battery is charging then the battery should be fully charged within 3 hours. If the DS does not switch on after charging then the battery may be faulty. It can be removed by opening the cover on the bottom of the DS.
You should try and find a friend with a DS who will let you try their charger and battery in your DS.
If the DS itself is faulty it will probably be uneconomical to repair. If this is the case then try selling it on ebay as a faulty DS.

There is a tiny, tiny fuse in the DS charging circuit that has more than likely blown. Don't know why it's blown on both of yours though. Power surge? Cheap charger? I think you can get an external battery charger and charge the batteries directly if that helps.....

My Nintendo DS doesnt charge

Double check that you have voltage comming from the charger with a volt meter if you have access to one. The correct voltage will be listed on the transformer that is plugged into the wall.

Putin in charger orange light flashes then goes off an doesnt cha

Your DS is either fully charged or the battery got damaged/wet. When you play the DS, is the light red or flash red? If it does, then the problem is with your battery. http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/repair/dslite_repair_home.jsp
Click on your country, then "System and Game Problems," then "Power and Battery Charging Problems."
Hope this helped.

Charger socket broken

That little black thing goes into the charger so without it, or something to replace it, you can not charge, unless you somehow found a way to take out the battery and charge it outside of the ds. I would highly recommend sending it back to Nintendo or something like that.

Nintendo DS will NOT charge

My guess is that the problem resides in the charger. You can buy a dual use charger for the DS and DS Lite at GameStop for relatively cheap.

Ds lite ac wall charger

When you first get the DS it will have a bit if charge on it but only a few hours worth. When the DS charges it usally comes up with a orange/red ish light then that goes out about a few hours later when its charged. ad if you want to chek if it is charging correcly turn the DS on whilst it is charging and the little battery simble in the top right corner should show the battery carging.

Ds light not coming on and charger not working

When I hooked up my DS with the charger the orange light would flicker for only a few seconds then turn off.

I found out that if you KEEP THE DS ON WHILE HOOKED UP the DS will charge. Although, because you are playing/DS is on the charging will go extremely slowly.

Best option, and what I did, was was just return/exchange it. I just did that today.
