Webroot antivirus with antispyware is not finding any cookies or viruses but we were told by Best Buy that there are some on the computer. Any idea why it is not working?

Well cookies aren't necassarily a bad thing. As fr the viruses try avast antivirus it is free for home use and it has a very high catch rate. Give that a shot and go from there. Thank you, Lee

Malware bytes make a very good free one. Download the free version at there site.Just make sure you do not select "start 30 day trial" during installation, if you do it will not be free!
Get a better anti-virus solution: use Avast, it is much better. Go to www.filehippo.com to download it. Once you are at filehippo, you will find many different, free security downloads, but Avast is the best one there (including Microsoft's Security Essentials).
Hi, your virus scan will not remove pop ups. Open your web browser and go to tools at the top of the screen and then options, here you can remove or block pop ups and cookies.
FREE SPYWARE Download Spybot Search & Destroy. Restart computer, then run Spybot to see what spyware comes up, AND DELET IT.
FYI---Virus Protection-- 2 programs of virus protection will conflict with each other and will actually cancel out the protection. SO just download one.

There are alot of $ anti-virus and Internet security programs out there, ie: Norton, McAfee, Panda, Bitdefender. If you would like to pay $ then get ***Kaspersky***-- 2010 , I feel that is the best for your money.

Sounds like you have a non-AV version of Webroot if options are greyed out. If not, uninstall and re- install. If you've used "Hijack This" then you've used one of the best tools available for tracking down issues with malware. Remember, it is better to scan for malware in Windows SAFE MODE. Superantispyware is an excellent and free utility. Also try Panda's free online service too. If your system is clean and still slow, then your registry might be the culprit in addition to the usual suspects (defrag'd drives, windows temp files, cookies, etc).
