Hello I have an acer aspire 5535-6608 and it keeps crashing. First it makes clicking sounds then a blue screen of death, but the blue screen is only have of the monitor. It has blue stripes going across the screen and I can read ''Crash dump'' I have to restart the computer and through 1 min or 50 min it will do the exact same thing. I tried to update the BIOs but it wouldn't let me. My computer says that there is a problem with the OS and the Agere Systems HDA Modem. Please help!
And when I first started up the laptop it says that there was an error with the OS, and when it crashes it shows the exact same message.
Thank you.
The complete solution to this fault (Acer 5535 keeps crashing under vista) is to use Windows XP instead of Vista. Set up a Dual Boot so you can CHOOSE to load XP or Vista each time you turn on the laptop. I've put XP on my 5535 and it's SO much faster and seems perfectly stable now - no crashing at all.
A full video showing how to do this is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdfU9TXIAd4
Once you've done this you won't have any problems with the laptop anymore.
This is a perfect solution to the crashing problem!
The blue screen of death sounds like RAM related issue. I had a couple PCs do that to me and the RAM fixed it both times
