Hi, manny_khera This could be a bit complicated...or not? First we'd need to know the make and model of your comcast modem as it may be a "modem/router" if so, it will need to be set to bride mode before your new router can work properly - to avoid "double natting" (both devices attemting to preform the same fucntion - network address translation.)

Hi Vivian,

Chweck you cables and where they are conencted.

You will need to make sure that the Comcast modem is providing internet, you can do this by connecting your laptop to it using ethernet directly if it connects to the internet, that will be a good thing.

From your comcast Modem, the ethernet Cable should go to the linksys where it says "WAN". this should give you an internet connection and make your comcast modem communicate with your linksys Router.

The first thing is that Comcast is Not a DSL connection it is Cable connection. Now first make sure that your computer will be able to go on line when connected directly to the modem. Connect your main computer directly to the comcast modem and check if that goes on line. If not then you will need to contact Comcast and get main computer on line. If it is online then reset your router for 30 seconds. release the reset and wait for 1 minute. Now connect the main computer to the router and comcast modem to the router. open the set up page and Clone the MAC address of the " Main " computer.
power cycle the modem and the router. See if it works.

Re-Connectivity to Comcast Modem

All you need to do is "MAC ADDRESS CLONING". Access the router's setup page and look for MAC Clone settings. Enable that and clone the mac address of your main PC. After that, perform a power cycle. Turn off the router then the modem. Wait for 30 seconds then power on the modem first, wait for all the lights to go solid then power on the router. That should do it.

Netgear wgt624 just stopped connecting to internet

I encountered the same problem, with the same modem and also Comcast, and here's what wound up working for me, after time spent with a nice guy on the Netgear customer support line:

1. Log into router: http://192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1) - user: admin / password: password

2. Under Maintenance, click Router Status. If IP Address is listed as 0.0.0.0, there's your problem-- router isn't getting address from modem.

3. At bottom of Basic Settings, under Router MAC Address, change selection from Use Default Address to Use Computer MAC Address.

4. Click Apply.

5. Click Router Status again-- non-blank IP address should now be listed.

6. Basic Settings will now show MAC address under Use This MAC Address. See if you can get online now. I could, and I hope you can, too!

You need to talk to your comcast supplier and see if they will set up dedicated IP's coming in one line then you would need to put a hub between the comcast cable modem and the 2 routers. Then each router is set to having the dedicated IP address in their setup.

This is a general answer but its the basics necessary. I don't know if you are comfortable in this "depth" of setup and configs. But its what you need to do.
