Prints when computer turns on

I have 4 workstations using windows 7 that uses the HP deskjet 6122. Everytime the computer turns on or restarts and goes to the log in screen, the printer starts printing a page with a line of random characters on it. I've tried everything from re-installing the drivers and resetting the printer itself, and it hasn't worked. Is there anything else I haven't tried?

There are a couple of things you can do. Clearing the print spooler or buffer is one of them. Click start and type printer and printer control should show up. Click on that and then select the tab that allows you to clear it. You can also stop the service if that does not work.

I've cleared the spooler and even stop the printer spooler service all together, however the printer still prints a page.

Is that printer installed on one computer or a print server? Does it do this on all the computers when you logon or just one?

SOURCE: Can't print to HP 2600n over network

The LaserJet 2600N has a built-in print server and can be connected to the local network (normal ethernet cable) directly. While printer sharing via Windows should work, I found it much more convenient to access it without the need of a hosting computer - you do not need to switch on the desktop PC for printing from the Laptop, for example, its also printing faster.

Do I have to have a color cartridge in order to print? Can I just use a black ink cartridge?

The HP DeskJet 6122 can print with both or only one ink cartridge installed. The printer driver includes an option to print in gray scale as a substitution for color. If you choose to print a document that has a color other than black and white with only a black cartridge installed, I recommend you select the gray scale print option. To select gray scale, select the printer properties and check the box for gray scale rather than color printing. This selection can be made either at the time a document is ready to print (ie., a one time selection, using the "Properties" box in the print options window), OR as a permenant setting using the Control Panel, Printers, HP DeskJet 6122, "Properties" window. Once changed in the general printer properties, these settings remain active anytime the HP DeskJet 6122 printer is selected to print a document.

Server 2008 drivers for HP deskjet 6122

"Add a printer" in "My Computer"/"Printers" or "Control Panel"/"Printers". The 6122 will print from the HP 920, 930, 932, 940 & 950 drivers also - (which are included with many Windows systems). If you chose the 970 driver it will want a second sheet of paper to print a test page, which you can ignore and it will stop trying. All drivers seem to be the same print quality in my systems. I do not use the 970 or 6122 driver at all so I don't have an ink level monitor or any possible related potential glitch.

I want to print in grayscale

Try a different driver. "Add a printer" in "My Computer"/"Printers" or "Control Panel"/"Printers". The 6122 will print from the HP 920, 930, 932, 940 & 950 drivers also - (which are included with your Windows XP and Vista systems). All these drivers seem to be the same print quality in my systems.

I cleared a paper jam from an HP Deskjet 6122, but now it won't respond to commands from the computer. I've restarted the printer and the computer. Now the print manager just says it's...

First things frist. If the printer is conected with a USB Cable to your computer, try removing and reinserting the usb cable. To make sure that it is properly connected.
You might just have unintentionally got the printer in offline mode. Now follow this steps:
To check if it is offline. 1. Go to devices and printers (7), Printers and Faxes(XP), Printers (Vista) 2. Double click on the printer icon 3. Click the option that says Printer on the upper left corner of the window that pops up.
Th only options that you need checked is the one that says Set as Default Printer. For any other options that has a check mark. Click on them to remove the check mark.
4. Click Start again, on the search box type in services.msc, hit Enter. For XP, CLick Run, and type the same thing and then hit ok. 5. A window should pop up with the list of services for your computer. Look for Print Spooler in that list. 6. Right Click on the Print Spooler and Click Stop. 7. Right Click on the Print Spooler and Click Start.
Restart your computer. Try printing again.

I have a HP Deskjet 6122 Printer and I need a driver for Windows 7 that I can load on a flash driver to put on another computer

I do not use the 970 or 6122 driver at all so I don't have an ink level monitor or any possible related potential glitch. I wet and slap stubborn old ink cartridges to un-stick dry jets. sometimes I use a small clear silicone tube to suck a bit of ink to get them started as the jet holes need priming sometimes if they are old.

HP Deskjet 6122 print job queues but does not print

The printer issue is the "setup.ini" file.(notepad file) You have to add an entry for Windows XP under [SupportOS] list. You also have to add a file, and edit the hpf6122p.inf file to reflect the added file. Please contact me at: [email protected]

If you have Win9x you can try to do a web search for file 6122_enu_win9x_me.exe or try:
