SOURCE: cannot remove top of cistern

There are some dual flush cisterns where you have to depress one button to reveal a cavity in the second button. Put a screwdriver in that cavity to lever out the second button, then release the first button and prise that out.

Underneath the buttons is a screw which must be unscrewed to release the cistern lid.

Not sure if this will apply to you... but if not, good luck anyway.

How does the cistern fit onto the toilet and connect to the water outlet. Does it got onto the toilet seat if so how do you connect the water supply?

normally the cistern is mounted to the wall and the pipe to the bowl (pan) is just connected by a rubber grommet at the pan inlet and a threaded nut that compresses a rubber ring in the cistern end
water supply is via a hose from the isolator tap next to the an up to the pipe under the cistern

One of the tank bolts on our toiletleaks, but only when the tank is full. I have tried new washers, new washers with silicone, same result, only leaks when full. is there something else I can try

if it is a bolt that the cistern is using for mounting on the wall, lower the water level in the cistern as it is too full
the level should be around 1" lower that mounting holes or just below the overflow opening whether it be a pipe to the outside ordown the center of the flush tube into the pan

Caroma toilet 12years old, concealed cistern. Water leaking around base when toilet is flushed. water level maintained when not flushing, so the leak must be between the cistern and the bowl. Had a plumber...

Fixing a leaky toilet is actually rather simple, requiring few tools and just a little time and effort. In looking at Caroma toilets on Google, they appear to be just a standard type of unit, and should present few if any problems for yourself or any handyman of modest skill.

If it is leaking around the base of the toilet - where the toilet sits on the floor, the repair item is a simple wax seal. Here is a tutorial to effect this repair: Replace Toilet Wax Ring. The wax ring is very inexpensive, usually $5 to $10 USD.

If the water is leaking from between the tank (cistern) and the toilet bowl, the job is even easier, as it does not require lifting and moving the entire toilet. A good tutorial for that repair is here: How to Replace Tank to Bowl Gasket . The gaskets, new nuts, bolts and rubber seals come in a kit and also cost only $5 to $10 USD.

I am sorry to hear your Plumber insisted you buy an entire new toilet, but do remember he is in the business of making money!

I installed a Moen Sage toilet paper holder. The right cover that attaches to the wall hardware via a small screw is loose and no amount of tightening corrects the problem. What am I doing wrong?

It is likely that the the mounting post on the wall has pulled loose.

You will need to remove the paper holder and inspect themounting posts; loosen the set screws in the base of the posts to do this.

Try tightening the screws holding the mounting posts to the wall. If the screws are unable to hold tight you will need to replace the wall anchors if they have been used.

Remove the mounting posts and the wall anchors and replace with new wall anchor, preferably a toggle anchor designed for sheetrock if possible.

With the wall anchors in place attach the mounting posts and install the paper holder; tightening the set screws in at the base of the posts.

Installation instructions for your product can be found here:
