Won't turn on

My whirlpool dryer will not start. I loaded it, shut the door, turned the power on and hit the start button. It clicked and the sensing light is on but the drum does not turn and no heat. Time does count down and all the lights are on but no action. There is no error code either. I can not find anything in our manual troubleshooting section so I have no idea of what this can be. Please can someone help me?

SOURCE: Whirlpool duet dryer will no start...the "sensing" light comes on when you hit start; it makes the click noise in the door when you hit start, it counts down, but it does not tumble or anything

you have a blown thermal fuse. you can get one where they have parts it is about 5 dollars.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool Dryer GEW9868KQS has power, but

It's probably either the start switch or door switch. Try bypassing the switch and see if it starts. If it does, you can either replace the switch or try taking it apart and fixing the switch yourself. (I had a switch that simply required a copper contact to be readjusted and its worked perfectly for several years)

Whirlpool LER5636PQ1 DRYER starts when I hold the button then shuts off

Your motor has gone bad. Think of the motor as a starter in a car. When you turn the key (press the start button) power is applied to the starter, to be specific, the stator also called the start winding, same as the dryer. Then the rotor takes over and the stator drops off. With your machine the rotor isn't engaging and the stator is taking the load and shutting down.

You have to slam the dryer door shut. Sounds silly... but it worked. Guy said it has to do with it being stacked??

Dryer wont turn on

Ours was doing the same thing you would hear a click and nothing but the sensing light. I found the thermal fuse to be blown Part #3392519. Easy to get to through the front cover under the load door. I went ahead and vacuumed and cleaned out the inside and vent tube.
