Front burner will not heat. Other postings suggest it might be the infinite switch. What is this, where is it, and how hard is it to repair myself?

SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE A WIRE BURNED. CAN YOU USE A MUTIMETER?

check the burner socket, it is likely that contact is being lost where the burner connects to the hardwired portion of the system (the socket). It is not unusual for the socket to "burn up" when there is a poor connection to the burner resulting in the burner being replaced and the new burner not working or working intermittently.

That is the burner switch for that particular burner gone out or a loose connection. You may can get just that one or you might have to buy the harness. I have a video about this: HERE

This is usually the infinite switch has failed. They are easy to check and inexpensive. Here is a video that will walk you thru testing an infinite switch. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations for your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.
