For cuisinart food processors that won't shut off: with bowl off - not attached - hold OFF button down while plugging in. With a screwdriver or other implement, press the button that gets depressed on motor base when bowl is attached and snapped into place ( small flat rectangular piece that clicks the bowl into place. While still pressing OFF button, press this a few times times, unplug then release the OFF button. I tried several suggested combinations of button pushing and unplugging, and this seems to have fixed it!
Hi, If the motor shaft is not turning it could be the belt has fallen off the pulley or the pulley is slipping, or the motor is broken. The motor, pulley and belts are located inside the base of the machine. Hopefully it's just a loose belt. Hank
We have a Cuisinart and these tools are very rugged- so I doubt that the motor is bad. My only suggestion would be to make sure that the safety catch is being actuated when you click the cover clockwise to secure the mixing chamber. There is a hole in the housing that the acuator pin sticks into to disengage the safety switch. Perhaps the switch is not being pressed off.
Using your blade holder, turn the motor from the blade end. 1 or two turns. Tak the blade holder out, Plug in an test Sometimes the brushes in the mototor lose a good contact. SGood Luck -Ned-
You should not have taken it apart - that unit has a fantastic warranty. Call Cuisinart and get it repaired - don't even hint that you took it apart, or your warranty is void.
jo82 - here is how to test your motor to be sure -
Remove the workbowl completely, plug the base into the wall outlet, turn the machine on, take a pen and press in the little black/dark gray button on top of the base. If you hear spinning, then the motor is fine.
If the motor is fine, put the work bowl back in place with handle facing fromt of machine, lid lined up with bowl, and pusher sleeve with metal element lined up with front of machine.
If the motor test failed, call Cuisinart and get the unit repaired.
Cuisinart Food Processors – Motor Test First, do a motor test by removing the work bowl completely and using a pen to press in the grey button on top of the base (with the food processor turned on of course), toward the back. If the processor spins, the motor is still good. At that point, I would inspect the work bowl pieces, lid, pusher assembly, etc for cracks/damage. If all appears well, insert ALL the pieces back into place and try again. If even one piece is out of place, the processor will not spin. If it no longer spins, the motor has a problem. Good luck! -Tha Mp3 Doctor
