SOURCE: Mitsubishi ED-52631 does not turn on

Hello Getoxygen,

This sounds like a DM problem. To repair this you will have to replace 4 or 7 capacitors (1000uf 35v).
Here are the instructions. Depending on your set this may differ a bit, but the central theme is getting the DM free to be worked on.

This was taken from a TV repair site used by TV technicians.

STEP 1) The DM Module loose. But itcan't be rotate out because of the upper plastic guide.

STEP2) How the DM Module is rotated out of the TV case. Allow thewires
entering the DM Module to be an axis point of the rotation. That way they barely move and don't get snagged or stretched.

STEP3) The DM Module out and the side cover of the metal housing removed.

STEP 4) My setup to do the soldering work.

STEP5) Up Close of the daughter board and the seven capacitors on

STEP 6) The daughter board unscrewed and flippedover where you will be soldering.

STEP 7) The UpperPlastic Guide that must be removed to rotate the DM Module out of theTV set.

STEP 8) Get this wooden horizontal shelf out (4screws) and getting the upper plastic guide out becomes easy.

STEP9) Helpful Hint about the wooden shelf and the platic guide that bothneed to be removed.

SOURCE: WT 42311 won't power up

All that is wrong is the Convergence IS's. They are located on the deflection board (IC8C01 and IC8C02) and are mounted to a very large heat sink. They are black and are STK IC's, STK392-110. Replace both IC's with STK392-120 and you're in business. The -120's are and upgrade and have a higher amp rating. The IC's can be found anywhere on the internet for $9.99 and up. Check Electronix.com, MCM Electonics, Mat Electeonics for starters. Gook luck. Gary D.

SOURCE: I have a Mitsubishi WD-52631. Picture will not

You need a new projector bulb. Google up your model and buy the best warranteed one you can find. Buy a "caged assembly" and not just a bare bulb.

Then unplug your tv and get a screwdriver. Follow your model's instructions and just snug down the electrical screws. Do not overtighten them.

Then consult your manual on how to reset the lamp timer so it knows you put a new bulb in and fires up from the first try.

Treat yourself because you've just saved yourself a trip from a repairman!!

SOURCE: Power goes off after less

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error code 2-2 means short protect which is either caused by bad convergence ICs and/or 2 Pico fuses (F9A05 and F9A04). You'll need to open the back of the unit and replace the parts that have gone bad to resolve this issue.
Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

My T.V. Will power on for a couple seconds then immediately turn off! Please help!

Hi,
Unplug the unit from the outlet for at least 1 hour and check if the symptoms persists. If yes, check if the unit can give an error code by following the steps below.
- Power on the unit and wait until the initialization takes place.
- Press the front panel "Input" and "Menu" buttons at the same time and hold it for 5 seconds, it will activate the error code mode. LED flashes a two digit error code. Example, if the error code is "22" the LED will flashes two times pause and then flashes two times and will repeat the error code for 5 times.
"12" means no error has occured.
Please let me know what will be the result to assist you further.

Hi Sheldon,

First of all, thank you for posting your question here at Fixya.

The symptoms you've mentioned is an indication that the unit gone to malfunction. My first advice is to unplug the unit from the outlet(AC source) for at least 15 minutes to reset the system and then check if the symptoms remain the same. If yes, lets check the LED error code to determine where the fault came from by following the steps below.

Press and hold for 5 seconds the front panel button keys "Input" and "Menu" at the same time to activate the error code mode. The LED will flashes a two digit error code.
Example : if the error code is "22", the led will flash two times pause and then flash again two times and the error code will cycle for five times.

Please let me know the result to continue our diagnosis.

Mitsubihsi WS 55311 will not give codes when pressing the input/menu buttons on TV. Tv will shut down in about 5 mins the I canturn it back on. After I press the buttons on the TV it will stay on for a...

This is a V20 chassis and if it shuts down it should trigger an error; note if no error the power light should blink 1, 2 pause and repeat it several times---this is no error found.

I would unplug the set for a few minutes (this clears the error buffer) and turn on again and wait for failure; you must push menu and input and hold for at least 5 seconds and let both go.

IF no error code this is a model made around 2002 (date will be on back of set) and it must display some error code.

If you find none I can suggest looking for any signs of Glycol leaks inside the set. If you need to know what to look for let me know and I will tell you.

Again: All models after 2000 (and some before) have the error buffer.

Let me know if you have questions.

Hi,

The flashes you've mentioned is a "12" error code which is no error has been detected by the processor.

Double check the error code by following the steps below.

Pressing the front panel "INPUT" and "MENU" buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,
activates the Error Code Mode.
Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.
• The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.
• The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.
• The LED then flashes indicating the value of the *** (ones digit) of the Error Code.
• The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
Example: If the Error Code is "24", the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash four
times.

Let me know the result.

How do you retieve the error codes?

All Mitsubishi DLP Televisions have a built in Diagnostic Decoder to store the last fault in memory. This will help the Mitsubishi Technician determine what area or part defect could exsist due to your television not coming on or turning off by itself. In order to read the error code from the front panel lights, you need to know how to access this information if it is available.
Please remember not to unplug the tv from the power outlet because this will reset the error code. The television must be in the power off state or shut off state to retreive the code.
Error Code Operational Check
Note: The TV must be in “Shut Down” and not have been switched Off, to perform the Error Code Operational
Check.
Pressing the front panel “ACTIVITY” and “CHANNEL DOWN v” buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds,
activates the Error Code Mode. The “TIMER LED” flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no
problem has occurred since the last usage.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control. • The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code. • The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second. • The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code. • The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
Example: If the Error Code is “23”, the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash three times, then this will repeat itself for four more times before the blinking stops. If you forget the code, you can start all over again after the LEDs have stopped blinking. Just remember you are looking for a two digit code, denoted by a pause in the middle.
Example: You are watching Television and after 20 seconds it shuts off with no picture or sound. By pressing on the front panel the INPUT and MENU at the same time starts the Diagnostic Procedure, and the TIMER LED will then blink six times, and then a small pause, then six more times. This is an error code of 66, and will indicate to the Technician a defect in the lamp ignition circuitry. This will help us to order parts for the repairs without guess work.
In addition to the above code retrieval procedure- most new Mitsubishi LCD & DLP televisions have a built in Error Code Log or menu system. To access this feature the television has to be on and have a picture or blue screen to read this fault menu . To read this Error Log in the television you have to use the Mitsubishi remote control and follow this procedure: Press & release the Menu button, followed by 3564 on the remote control. You will see Lamp time, Code & Status. If an error has happened, please read the numbers indicated under Code to our service person or office staff. We can determine by these codes how to handle service on your unit.

My TV shuts off as soon as I turn it on...What is causing it to do this??

Hi there,

When it shuts off. Try doing what's called a self-diagnostic test. As soon as the television shuts try these steps.

Pressing on the front panel's 'INPUT' and 'MENU' buttons at the same time, and holding for 5 seconds, activates the Self Diagnostic Code Mode. The LED flashes denoting a two digit Error Code, or indicating no problem has occured since the last Initalization.

Note: The front panel buttons must be used, NOT those on the Remote Control.

-The number of flashes indicates the value of the MSD (tens digit) of the Error Code.
-The flashing then pauses for approximately 1/2 second.
-The LED then flashes indicating the value of the LSD (ones digit) of the Error Code.
-The Error Code is repeated a total of 5 times.
-Example: If the Error Code is ?24?, the LED will flash two times, pause, and then flash four
times.

The Error Code designations indicating a malfunction, or no malfunction, are listed below:
Self Diagnostic Code Description
1 - 2 = no error detected
2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current)
2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies)
2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection)
2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source).

Thank you for using FixYa! Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution.

Warm regards,

the pins that protrude into the lamp compartment have a tendency to get out of alignment where the lamp will only make partial contact. It sounds like what youre describing.
